About Hyrule Castle..

edited September 2007 in Games
Years ago, I rented Ocarina of Time. I got to the part where I had to sneak in and talk to Princess Zelda for the first time. I noticed that the Hyrule Castle's drawbridge was down(I am meaning the actual castle bridge not the outer wall one before you get into town). I didn't go inside that section and just went the way inside where you go pass the guards.

Needless to say, I bought the game and when I got to that point again, of course, that bridge was not down. I was really bummed that I didn't bother walking across the castle bridge on the rental game. I have searched on the internet on and off to see if anyone experienced what I noticed. I haven't found anything.

Orange-belters, has anyone seen what I described?

I'll let you know when I get over to my N64. I'm pretty sure it's the in my game.

I can't say I've seen that before (been awhile since I played through that game), but even if it does appear to be a viable path, there are two guards standing at the entry, and I don't think there'd be any way to sneak past them.

The two guards by where the gate would come down are too close. You can't even hop into the water around there or they'll see you.

Anyway, that bridge is never down. EVER. Unless the copy that you rented was insanely glitchy.

    MrCheeze is right.

It is never down, ever, ever, ever, ever.

Oftimes I find that when I play a game for the first time, it is easy for my mind to confuse similar scenes and events. Chronology and orientation can be easily skewed. Once the game has become familiar, if you think back to your original experience, you will find that you remember, not as it was, but as you perceived it to be, that is, in it's unfamiliar tone. Your mind will try to make sense of what you do recall by putting it into your, now, well understood categories of locality and chronology within the game.

What the hell are the odds of this...

I'm finally settled into my parents new house, and I decided to set up my Wii. Forgetting that I bought Ocarina of Time months ago for VC when it first came out, I started that up today and started playing it. I actually thought about creating a thread about it here, but I decided against it.

Garnet, our minds are operating on some higher plane to synch up like this.

Mr. Cheeze, I know the bridge was never meant to be down now. My N64 copy which I own doesn't have it. I guess it's just one of those strange game enigmas I happen to notice. :o

Woah, that is rather eerie in a cool way.

Right now, I'm finally playing Wind Waker. It rather surprised me how it has the same amount of fun as Ocarina did when I first played it . Once I'm done with it, I 'll probably play Ocarina again.

So, this the official Zelda nostalgia thread now?

God, I think the best Zelda game is most definitely Majora's Mask, an underrated master piece. It was fun and challenging, and the 3 day thing added a fun spin to it.

The timing of this Zelda thread is quite opportune! Since it's been so many years since I last played it, I remember next to nothing. Maybe someone here can provide occasional advice.

First, is there any point to that random chest game in the Hyrule Market? The one where you pay 10 rupees for a key to enter a room with two chests, one with another key, and the other with a rupee?

I had such a horrible string of luck that it put me at the far left side of a probability bell curve. It took me 16 damn tries to get past the two green rooms (statistically, I should get past the green rooms one out of every four tries). I was pissed.

Yes, if you get all the way through, I believe you get a piece of heart or something like that.

The key is, you can cheat by using the lens of truth.
  • edited August 2007
Yeah, it's a heart that you get. I rarely used the lens, I'd always go after it as soon as I could. It usually only took me 4 or 5 tries. I think there's some sort of pattern. I'm not really sure what it is, but I know it can't be random, unless I'm psychic or something.

There is also a glitch there to allow you to get all 100 Golden Spiders.

Near the corner of the moat is a rock. Blow it up with a bomb, inside there is a breakable wall, bomb it to find a golden spider (I'd save now, trust me). Z-Target it with your boomerang, and fire it, as soon as you do, back flip onto the portal. If you timed it right, you'll get the golden spider and when you go back, it'll still be there! Rinse and Repeat.

No clue what happens if you try to get more than 100, so be careful...

I know the glitch you're talking about... and when I first read about it, I believe they said you could get up to 999. It would do absolutely nothing extra to your game, except that the spiders WOULD count.

...But, that was a REALLY long time ago, so don't get mad if I'm completely wrong. All I know is that it works like a charm... I've gotten many golden spider tokens from that strategy in various game files!

Y'know, I did make a Zelda thread a while back....maybe we should go the mario way and switch over to it?
  • edited August 2007
The Mario way? What do you mean by that?

    'Shrooms, man. 'Shrooms.

Not the Mario way, the mario way. Reusing old threads.

Maybe you should just learn to accept that Garnet makes more interesting threads than you.
  • edited August 2007
ooh! Sounds like you should consider changing your name from agentcel to agentserved!

It doesn't have the same ring to it...

I think it's because Garnet posts on an average of never. When (she?) says something, people notice it.

    We do?

    ZING!

Weeks ago, my sweetheart and I completed Twilight Princess. I felt disappointed...disappointed enough to design this:

I didn't make the line drawing of the t-shirt clipart though.

    Wasn't it around 80 hours?
  • edited September 2007
    I put 70+ because I wasn't sure of the exact time. =P
  • edited September 2007
I definitely broke 100 hours, but that's because some dude who was playing his own file on my Wii saved over my file just before I got to Hyrule castle. I had to start over again.
  • edited September 2007
    Serephel, that would be upsetting.:(

I really wouldn't want to go through the Water Temple again. That's where many of my game hours went to.
