Waiting Room Super Naming Time Spectacular!

Here's the beef folks, I need names for the characters in my Waiting Room stories, namely for the two roommates that are the focus of the pieces, and the two girls they know. I am open to suggestions, and while I have already named one of the girls (the one that's the girlfriend of one of the guys), I am open to change. This is a necessity if I'm going to start writing stories with more than two of these characters in them at once, otherwise it'll just be way to confusing when we start recording radio pieces.

For my own sake, I'll map it out:
Guy 1: Guy 2's roommate, Girl 1's boyfriend
Guy 2: Guy 1's roommate
Girl 1: Girl 2's roommate, Guy 1's girlfriend, currently named Sarah?
Girl 2: Girl 1's roommate, interested in Guy 2

That's not too confusing now, is it?

You should name them after some of my WoW characters!

    Guy 1: Monkeyhat
    Guy 2: Badassname
    Girl 1: Shinbiter
    Girl 2: Festy

It would be better if they already had names, but you can't help that.

Are you worried about nationality? Does anything go?

Hooray for names! Now it'll be easier to follow who's talking at any given moment.

Holy crap. Three people posted at once.

That has to be some sort of record.

I rather like Festy, actually. Makes one wonder if it's a real name, nickname, or short for something else. Guy or Girl.

It works well for Orcish hunters with festy beards, I can tell you that.

    But for seriousness:

    Guy 1: Marcus
    Guy 2: Frank
    Girl 1: Sarah
    Girl 2: Festy

I think festy would be a pretty sweet nickname for one of them. For guy's names I like Mitch/Mitchell, Jake, or Dave. For the girls you could go with Caroline, Meghan, and for some reason I really like the name Grace.

oooh, name one Jake! I would love you forever!

Don't you already love somebody else forever?

Are you one of those polyamorous types?

That also has a fetish for mushrooms?

    Love isn't diminished when shared.

I like Sarah and Festy. Marcus makes me think of "Underworld" but that's not a bad thing. Jake's cool. And the name, Jake, is cool.

Marcus makes me think of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, so go with Marcus.

They do not need names. Why are you people all so obsessed with names?
  • edited March 2006
I can't go with Marcus, because they're partly based on a person named Marcus, and I'd rather not use his name.

I prolly won't use the names very often, but it'll help me when I'm writing to better develop individual characters.

It would be more convenient to just have them be character[0], character[1], character[2] and character[3]. That way you could easily make a loop to cycle through them.

What? That'll never work! What if they gotta add more names in the future? They'd have to recompile the whole story! You need a vector or a linked list or something.

    Just use realloc().

    I'm confused!

I think it's fine without names because it requires the viewer to read carefully and figure out what's going on themselves. Here's my suggestions for names though:

    Guy 1:Ryan
    Guy 2: Todd or Trevor
Girl 1: Michelle (I think Sarah's fine too)
    Girl 2: Eva
