Professor MacDrunk loves you!

edited December 2007 in General
Friends, in this thread we talk about the acts of LOVE we perpetuate in the world.

Today I bought a coffee for a girl at Starbucks who realized she didn't have enough money to pay for said coffee. Share your self-same stories!

Also, I love you regardless of these acts of kindness! Because that's what deities like myself do!

    I let girls walk all over me because I lost my spine years ago.

    That's love, right?
  • edited December 2007
    It's out of desire to be loved. It's practically the same thing.

    They don't walk all over me. I think I'm invisible to them or something. Natural camouflage.

    The coffee thing is nice of you Jake. More people should be like that. I try to be a nice person all the time, but that's more because I'm terrible at being a mean person. I just don't have it in me to be particularly angry or bitter.

    I ignore my mother's phone calls and e-mail. Eventually she stopped trying to contact me! Now I don't have to deal with her nonexistent sense of humor! I did it because I love being a pimp.

    Today I volunteered at a marathon race thing for about 8 hours... While I don't claim I have THAT much love for the runners (because I pretty much only volunteered for my school NHS required community service hours), I claim some love because I was only required to stay and work for 6 hours, and I waited 'til the end of the race even though my body was pretty numb from the wind and I was one of around 4 people who stayed until the end.

    And I agree with Lore, I think the coffee-buying was really nice! Buying stuff for strangers when they make stupid mistakes is a very generous thing to do. Plus, I've been in that situation before... and I felt like a moron/asshole since I was wondering if people thought I was only trying to get someone else to pay for me. You can be assured the girl you paid for was very grateful, haha.

    Not grateful enough.

    What is this concept you call Love? I've heard it used on street corners and back alleys, but I still don't know what it means.
  • edited December 2007
    I thought we already had a thread discussing the meaning of love.
  • edited December 2007
    Yeah, did we ever figure it out?

    1. We're not alloweed to revive dead threads. The great and powerful MOZ decreed it. And breaking rules gets you angry IMs from people who are possibly drunk.... with POWER!!!!
    2. That earlier thread was about eros. This is probably some other type of love. Platos, perhaps.... or maybe that one thats the love for god? I cant remember the Greek term right now.
    I dunno. Still, much different than romantic love.
    3. I once gave a homeless dude a meal and directions to a shelter. Does that count?

    I think we'd all prefer to hear the story about the car.
  • edited December 2007
    The car wasn't about love for your fellow human being. It was about unfounded blind trust in a specific human being and I think we all know where unfounded blind trust gets us.

    Bed?

    If you have a VERY good imagination and a tenuous grip on reality, sure.

    Otherwise broke. And alone.
  • edited December 2007
    Who's MOZ? I'm all for thread revival as long as it's an actual continuation of the conversation. Who's to say when a conversation is finished anyway?
  • edited December 2007
    MOZ. I thought we already established this. Try to keep up, mario.

    I think you're all forgetting my vague call to action! DO GOOD, LOVE MUCH, SOMETHING ELSE!

    This coming Sunday, I'm planning on arriving at Best Buy two hours before they open so that I can get a Wii.

    This Wii is not for myself, but for one of my co-workers' daughter. My co-worker has been trying to get a Wii for quite a while, but has had no success. I'm hoping that I will be able to get one, though. I've been searching a bit for the last two weeks, but nothing this extreme. I'll be wrapped up nice and warm with my DS, and it will be a fun (and probably cold) two hours, hopefully culminating in the purchase of a Wii. I consider this process an act of love, even if I don't get one.

    Good luck, illithid! Waiting in early-morning lines isn't as bad as it may seem. The others in line are generally well-natured (at least that's the case in Wii lines, can't speak for other next-gen consoles), and you sometimes get a Wii out of it!

    Who's MOZ?
  • edited December 2007
    MOZ is.

    I'm catching a train at 5am into the city this Saturday with my cousin to buy a Wii at the Nintendo store. I will take many awsome pictures for sharing.

    Please compile a list of everyone that isn't MOZ.
  • edited December 2007
    MOZ isn't not MOZ.
  • edited December 2007
    That does not satisfy the conditions of the request. At all.
  • edited December 2007
    for(var person in _global.allPeople)
    {
         if(person._name != "MOZ")
         {
              trace(person._name);
         }
    }

    People who aren't MOZ:

    Hlavco
    Ben Franklin
    Coach Z

    Yeah, Coach Z is just kind of creepy. And probably full of two bottles of listerene by now, considering the time of year.

    That was the complete list. Don't listen to hlavco. Those things are all MOZ...except maybe Coach Z.

    I let the girl next to me cheat off my final! And she wasn't that cute!
  • edited December 2007
    Hmm... you know, the teacher in me doesn't think that's an act of love... I'd say it's more an act of allowing her to fail at life.
  • edited December 2007
    Nonsense! She's not going to be any better or worse of a person if she does better on this test, and maybe her grade got raised and she now has more options in life. And Art History is useless anyway, it's not as if I allowed her to get away with not knowing something vital for the good of mankind.
