Who wants to play email RISK?

I'd like to start up an email game of RISK (well, it's called Gambit on this site, but it's the exact same thing) and I was wondering if there's any interest?

It'll support up to five more players, all I'll need is an email address and I'll fill out the initial game page and it'll send you an email to start the game. There's no signup for the site until you're starting a game, so don't worry about that for now.

Any takers?

My house rules are that the initial countries you occupy are randomly chosen. Otherwise rules are the same as traditional Risk.

If you want to see what it'll look like, click on Gambit on the main page then click on the See Preview tab.

Pick a color too:
Red TAKEN BY JEFF (DROOLING IGUANA)
Yellow TAKEN BY JOHN FILLEAU
Green TAKEN BY BRUCE (NIGHT LORD)
Cyan TAKEN BY MARIO
Blue TAKEN BY JEFF (HAMELIN)
Magenta TAKEN BY MY ROOMMATE MATT

If you're using firefox you may want to set the site to be able to open popup windows.

    Only two slots left, yay!

I'd be all over this, but I'm about to go home where I'll be too busy for internet games. Instead I will root for...

    *rolls die*

Jeff's roommate Matt. Go get 'em!

The die tells me to root for Night Lord. So there ya go. Show 'em what strategy is about Night Lord!

Well, Drooling Iguana went and didn't PLACE HIS PIECES before he went and disappeared, so this is already taking a long time.

    Hooray!

Remember when we used to play this game? I miss that.

    Take your turn already!

Risk takes long enough when you play it on a physical board. This will take years.

EDIT: OMG they have Axis & Allies. That game will take DECADES.

My d6 tells me GO MARIO!

Am I missing something? I have not got the first clue about what to do...

Well, it's the first round, so we have to place our starting pieces on the countries we currently occupy. But no one can do that until Iggy does it, since he's first.

To place new armies you simply click on one of your countries (they light up) and I haven't done it yet, but I would imagine that to attack another country you click on yours then click on theirs.

But we can't do any of that until he GETS OFF HIS DUFF and takes his first turn.

    Wow, that's gonna take ages.

    So I downloaded Lux! Yeah!

I didn't know when the game was supposed to begin. I thought it was a sort of 1-turn-per-day deal. Anyway, I've placed my guys now.

    John's turn now, I think...

EDIT: I just realised I own most of North America. Once I conquer John the first stage of the new glorious empire will begin!

    Nope, it's more of a 1-turn-per-whenever-it's-your-turn.

Hey, we kicked your guy's butts once, we can do it again.

That Set game doesn't make any sense. I get a set and the cards just sit there while the "Them" counter increments. It's not saying "This is not a set" or whatever, it's just not doing anything.

Give us the screenshot, I've been getting pretty good at this whole Set-ing thing.

Huh, that would indeed appear to be a set (all the same shape, all different colors/fills/counts). Try getting that other set (three green empty ovals, two green filled diamonds, one green striped squiggly), maybe that'll jar the game back into functionality.

Here's the board after the start-up phase. It is now the first turn of the game.

I need to get myself a white cat. I got myself a white spider-robot thing, but it needs C-cells and I don't have any C-cells.

Status before the third round of play:

    c1A7_1198022006_turn3.png

Drooling Iguana has taken a commanding lead, gaining control of both South America and Africa. Mario is close behind, his iron fist clutching Australia and a good swath of Asia tightly.

John and I need to consolidate our power or risk being wiped clean in the next few turns. He is clinging onto those five countries in America rather loosely, with merely one army on each, and I am crammed in Northeast Asia and Alaska, surrounded on all sides by rogues and malcontents.

Bruce nearly gained control of his homeland continent, but Matt's forces in Iceland pushed him back and out of Scandinavia, and he is in a pincer attack with the rest of Matt's forces in Asia.

Bruce's single army in frigid Siberia looks ripe for the conquering, I don't see it lasting to his turn if Iggy bolsters his armies in Ural.

Don't give him ideas! My men in Siberia are waiting for the summer!

I'm a little disappointed with you, Matt. You could have picked off Egypt and greatly reduced Drooling Iguana's bonus armies this turn. As it stands, he's well on his way to fortifying his borders and strengthening control of South America and Africa.
  • edited December 2007
Yeah, I was worried about that, too. My African campaign was more costly than I expected, and left me with a very poorly defended front line.

Fortunately, no one took advantage of it, and now it's too late.

So, How is the world domination going?
  • edited December 2007
I pretended I was America and tried to invade other countries and police the world by stretching myself thin like butter over too much bread. Now I've been conquered. :-[

I should have followed a policy of military non-intervention, trade, and travel.

Vote Ron Paul in the Republican Primaries.

How sad, you even had the Canadians on your side. Are they still playing that game?

If you call DI going zerg on everybody "playing".
