A Roleplaying Thread? Dude! It's about Zelda, too.
Well, we need to have a role playing thread, cause my friend from another forum has a fierce desire to play a Zelda one, and all of them suck! So We will make on that will most certainly not suck! It will be...dare I say....rockin'! I guess we're gonna do one of those RPs where it's more of a collaborative story thing...Well, let's get a backstory on this thing.
One day, Link is sitting on the couch watching Kirby, and he runs into Navi...naw, just kiddin' .
Okay, it's going to be set in the 7 year period that Link is sleeping in Ocarina. So basically, Ganon's taking over Hyrule, and someone's got to at least prevent things from getting worse.

Time to resurrect an old character....
Character Sheet:
Name:Lyunix
Age: 16
Race: Sheikah
Backstory: Lyunix has served as a guard to the royal family of Hyrule alongside his aunt Impa his entire life. When the forces of Ganon attacked the castle, he was nearly killed. He has vowed to find the princess, and has been searching every region of Hyrule to find her.
I'd also like to point out some extra information
Personality: Quiet and introverted. He will do whatever it takes to protect those he cares for.
Appearance: Has white hair and red eyes. Wears a black shirt with the Sheikah red eye symbol on it and black pants. His mouth is shrouded behind a red scarf.
Weapon: Katana and limited magical powers.
In every direction, fire. He could see nothing, the smoke had engulfed the entire room. ".....Zelda....." He said, reaching around for his katana. He had been knocked to the ground by a wave of Moblins who were headed for the princess's quarters. He was supposed to be protecting her.......
As he woke up, he frantically remembered where he was. The room was charred, and the body's of the Hylian guards lay about the room. He slowly got up, and found his katana among the fallen weapons. He quickly ran through the Princess's wing into the secret chamber. His aunt Impa had always instructed her to hide there if anything unfortunate were to ever happen. As he approached it, he gasped in surprise, he noticed the chamber had been breached. He quickly searched the room for any sign of a struggle. He noticed a brick jutting out from the far wall. Quickly running over to it, he pulled it out and noticed a small note in the hole created in the wall.
As he obtained the note he began to decipher it. It was written in ancient Hylian, a language he was only marginally familiar with. From what he recognize, he read: Lyu.........Zelda.........Safe.........Meet us........Careful......Impa.
He put the note back, and snook past a group of moblins into the night.....
The memory snapped out of his head as he fell backwards. A redead had yanked off his scarf and proceeded to wrapped its hands around his neck. As Lyunix's red eyes watered, his scarf fell into a puddle as the rain continued to fall.
Age: I dunno lol
Appearance: One of those dudes who looks to be shrouded in an infinite number of cloaks to the point you have to wonder if there's even a person underneath. He does this for a constant feeling of a draft, not because he thinks it looks cool.
Backstory: Well I used to travel around studying poes and selling whimsical advice to jerks stupid enough to buy my trite advice, but that's the last thing on my mind since the current political system was overthrown. I'm not really one to take sides, that Gerudo gent doesn't seem overtly concerned with killing ME atleast. I've been living in the city walls since they've fallen. It's not as bad as wandering around the country side. Besides, I get to study the redead.
Stepping out into the shadow and protection that a tight alleyway provided into the relative danger of the open market square seemed a stupid move, but I had done it enough where I'm not overtly concerned about the lessened safety it affords me. Besides, I'm cold and I need to stretch. The only danger around here is the redead, anyway. They're not so bad once you realize the only reason they're able to claim lives and bolster their numbers is that they're so damned terrifying. Funny how that works, once you realize something is only strong because you're scared of it, it's not so scary anymore.
Well now this is interesting. Some idiot decided to come running into town and was stupid enough to let a redead get that close to him? Good thing these sacks of leather and bones are too simple minded to multitask.
*I walk right over to the kid getting face-humped by this zombie and lean in to get a better look*
I'm in no danger of getting attacked since this redead's too busy doing...well...whatever it's doing to this kid's face.
"Hey Junior, as a scientific expert on these matters, I'm gonna have to recommend you relax. The typical redead victim passes because of fear and needless struggle three minutes earlier than they would if this poor excuse for a monster was the only thing doing the damage. That being said, you're probably scared shitless."
*I take in my closer surroundings. I see a scarf in a puddle on the ground. There's no other redead around. No living souls besides that except for me and the kid, who at least now knows I'm here. I can make out some muffled struggling words coming from his mouth. I remember that, scientifically speaking, no matter how many statistics you throw at someone being face-humped by a zombie, 95% still struggle*
What's a kid doing around here anyway? He must be some dumb-ass cock-sure idiot teenager. I point to his scarf on the ground, even though he can't see me pointing.
"Looks like you dropped your weapon there. Now I'm a bit of a business man, and I'm not going to help you out just because you're dumb enough to get in trouble. Tell you what. I'll help you out if you promise to buy something from my store. Well...it's not so much a store as it's an old barricaded guard room stuck in the wall. What do you say? Just muffle a scream if that's a yes."
Name:Selena
Age:16
Race:Hylian
Backstory: Selena was a warden at Lon Lon Ranch for most of her life. Now that Ingo has taken over she ran away, stealing a black mare with a white star on her forehead named Nightmare. Now wandering through Hyrule with no idea what is going on she purchased a short sword for protection against poes and other monsters. She's hoping to gain experience so she can save her childhood friend Malon.
Personality: Selena is random and can be crazy she grew up sheltered. She can be serious when she wants to be and is prone to trouble.
Appearance: She's about five foot five with black hair. She wears a long cloak and has icy blue eyes tha can stun anyone that she gets mad at.
Weapon: Short Sword.
Name:Ceta
Age:14
Race:Zora
Backstory:King Zora ordered Ceta to put together a Zora army in order to counter attack Ganondorf after appointing him as the General. The rest of the race has taken shelter in the Ice cavern, while the warriors wait in the Domain.
Personality: Responsible. You can count on him to be a greaty leader. He cares for his teammates and fellow warriors.
Appearance: A male Zora with white stripes on his fins.
Weapon: His sharp fins on his arms are like swordblades.
"All of you, settle down!"
"I know that this is sudden, and you have no clue as to why you've been assembled into an army by the king, but I need to you listen! There have been reports of a man named Ganondorf trying to overthrow Hyrule, and all the land. He's out of the Desert, the King of Thieves. Apparently, a Kokiri Boy is taking care of him, but we need to be ready to fight for our people in case he fails! I know you all are terrible fighters..."
The warriors snicked, but then looked serious after I gave them a stern look.
"...but we can fix that. We're going to have to use the Zora River to our advantage. We can easily access the Lost Woods, the Domain, the Fountain, Lake Hylia, and even Kakariko Village. With so much area covered, we'll be a challenge to take down!"
The crowd of warriors murmured for a bit, mulling over this new information.
"Don't worry", said Ruto, my trusted friend, "That Kokiri Boy saved me from Jabu-Jabu's stomach, remember? I'm sure he can defeat Ganondorf quickly, he has the Zora Jewel, after all. He's more than capable".
"...I think his name is Link", as she stared in the direction of the Forest.
Breathing deeply, Lyunix retrieved his soaking wet scarf. wrapping it around his neck, he snarled at the man. "Leave." He muttered, unsheathing his katana. He crouched down, and jumped onto the balcony of a nearby building, and continued to jump from building to building. "One last search....." Lyunix said to himself. He was very tired. magic consumes a great amount of energy, especially Din's Fire.
After searching the town, Lyunix found himself near the entrance to the once great castle. Lightning flashed as he gazed up at the decaying castle. "Ganondorf.....I will kill you......" He declared. As he did, the sound of marching filled his ears. "The castle..." He realized, as a large group of Moblins emerged from the gates. Ganondorf's foot soldiers. Lyunix smiled as he held his katana. "Die...." He said, as he ran towards the group.
The voice was coming from one of the King's advisors towards me.
"Listen, I'm busy training the warriors for combat!"
"But the thing is-"
"No, this is important, we're going to have to train!". I was practically screaming now.
Everyone stopped to look at us.
"Ceta...Hyrule Castle was overthrown. We just got word."
I could hardly believe what I was hearing...
"For how long?"
"The castle was overthrown 2 weeks ago. We just recieved notice from a messenger who calls himself Sheik."
"Well bring him in!"
"Thing is, he's gone...He just disappeared. But what are we going to do, general?"
"Well. Like I mentioned earlier, we're going to use the River. It runs all the way past Kakariko, as you all know. However, it also connects with the sewers that run into Castle Town."
"The sewers?!"
"Just shut up. Thing is, the sewers lead to the moat, so we can sneak around the back of the castle, and fight from the moat! They won't know what hit him. However...I'll need to divide us into three groups. I'll lead the attack on the castle, another group will stay here, and the last one will gaurd the others at the Ice Cavern."
"Let's hope we're not too late..."
"Leave," he said while unsheathing his knife.
I wonder if he understands how dangerous weapons like that are? Also, where does he get off telling me to leave? I don't get a chance to reprimand him for telling me to leave my own home. That may have been a fancy explosion, but really I don't take guff like that from anybody, especially some jerk kid. Before I get a chance to give him what for, though, he's jumping from rooftop to rooftop.
"You're just wasting your energy with those fancy acrobatics!" I yell after him. He either doesn't hear or doesn't care. He's jumping towards the castle at an alarming speed.
"Well I was right about him being an idiot teenager. What does he think he's going to do at the castle?" I murmur to nobody in particular; maybe the redead was listening. I don't know. I glance over and he's still twitching and ablaze. The rain did nothing to quench the fire. I take the jerky dead motions to mean he's listening.
Then the idea hits me. I've seen what that Gerudo chap did to the largest city in the world, and while I'm grateful to him for lowering property costs, I'm still not exactly about to go run up and give him a big sloppy kiss. Nobody in their right mind would be headed towards that castle unless they're his best bud.
"So is that why you attacked him, buddy? You remember that kid? Did he help the big bad desert man kill your family before you became what you are now? Looks like he finally finished the job, eh? Well I don't blame you for doing...whatever it was you were doing...but you have to be smarter about your method of attack. Timing is everything. Anyway, no use letting you go to waste."
I remove one of my seemingly-infinite number of robes and wrap the living corpse to suffocate the fire. When I'm sure the conflagration is out I quickly remove it from the still twitching zombie, raise my leg as high as it will go, and bring the heel crashing through the once-human skull. There's a final twitch as the puddles of water turn from clear to brown. The smell is horrible - or it would be if I wasn't so used to it.
From the depths of my swathings I procure a rusty knife and get to work. First incision from the groin to the sternum. Then my hand is in the torso; ignoring the crawling bugs and aiming for the prize. I cut the thick, fibrous tissue that's only gotten harder since death around what once was a red and beating heart. While my hand only went in with a knife, it comes out with a black, steaming lump of valves. I quickly rinse the knife in a puddle, return it to my robes, and sack the heart.
Now I'm off to find some firewood and food and then it's back to my shop. I glance once more at the now-mutilated pile of steaming flesh and bones before I go and only mutter, "I can't believe he doesn't know how to properly use a scarf."
"Can't believe that he threw me out. That son of a poe's uncle" Selena murmured under her breath. She was riding her stolen horse Nightmare across the field toward Castle Town. "He tells me to go to stupid mother fucking Hyrule Castle Town to see if I can 'find a good place to live.' Looks evil to me, but I have to find a way to save Malon."
Selena murmured this to herself as she crossed the field even though there was not a soul out but her and Nightmare. The sky was still blue though the cloud over the castle looked eerily creepy.
Lyunix had been knocked into a nearby tree. His head was throbbing. As he began to lose consciousness, he could see the darknut walking closer, its armor clanging as it did. As Lyunix passed out he, heard the sound of a harp playing in his ear.
We finally came to the part where the River flowed into the sewers...we had to slip our way through the bars. I was hoping that Ruto was doing alright for herself back at the Domain...
The sewers had a sursprise for us, sure enough. We had to avoid the Wall Masters flying down from above. Most of us were able to spear through and cut them apart to shreds, but the ones that got caught were sent to the beginning of the sewers, messing up our formation. We were almost ready to burst out, I could see the end of the sewers, even though it was dark outside anyways.
Selena looked up at the darkening sky in worry. Maybe that was why Nightmare was worried. She tugged at the reins and Nightmare grudgingly moved.
Coming into the city Selena saw the redeads. "What are those things!!??" She yelled in alarm. The nearest one, hunched over slowly came toward her. It cried eerily and as much as she wanted to move back she found that she couldn't. She vaguely noticed that Nightmare had bolted.
'Oh well, at least she got out.' Was her last thought before the redead grabbed her and she screamed a scream to rival the monsters.
I exhale and see my breath visible as a cloud of vapors. Crud, it's cold. I sit down and get started on my fire. Before I can get out my flint and tinder the hairs on my spine stand on end and my soul feels like it's been submerged in an arctic lake. What was that scream? The redead don't even sound that tormented. Could somebody be out there?
Just another ungrateful jerk, no doubt. I am not the babysitter of every idiot who wants to ransack the castle.
I return my attention to the pile of wood and have it lit with a flick of my wrist. Now I can focus on my studies.
I move to my table of beakers and tubes, glass plates and crucibles. I grab the black heart and pin it to a tray. Next I grab a corked bottle of what looks like blue smoke. This is, of course, a bottled essence of poe. My left hand holds the bottle, my right hand finds a syringe. The syringe stabs through the cork and into the smoke, which like always, runs from the needle tip. I've done this before. I know what to do. The movements of this experiment are burned in my brain like a musical performance is burned in the brain of an ocarina master. In seconds the bottle is over the fire and the blue smoke dances wildly in the heat. In the flash of an eye after that I have the bottle submerged in a pail of water. The water bubbles a bit at the touch of the hot bottle, but the glass is thick so won't shatter from being so quickly cooled. The essence is not so lucky though. It turns instantly from blue gas to purple viscous liquid, and that's when I strike. I pull back the plunger on the syringe, separating a fraction of this poe from its main body.
The contents of the bottle being thus used, I place it back in its spot on my shelf and move to the heart. The needle sticks into the thick, hardened muscle, but not enough to rupture a chamber. Into the muscle itself I inject this magical juice, this life force, (this unlife force?). It'll start beating again momentarily. Before that happens though I need to connect the tubes. Two glass tubes are inserted into the heart - one as input and one as output. The input will draw from a glass beaker full of blood. The output will, of course, output this blood into a second beaker.
It's the blood that I need.
My work's done for now. Where did I put that canned fruit?
I noticed a light just down the alley and walked toward it. I reached my hand up and knocked hesitantly. while waiting for an answer I mumbled to myself.
"I hope someone's home." I knew that if I didn't find shelter I wouldn't last the night, and if I didn't last the night I couldn't keep my promise. If I couldn't keep my promise then Malon would be trapped at the ranch forever. I started hyperventilating. I couldn't help it, Malon was my little sister and I absolutely had to help her.
I looked at my hands for the first time and noticed the wounds that covered my hands and lower arms looked infected. You know, hyperventilating is very fun. I hope I don't make a habit of it though.
I whipped out my guitar that was my momento of my cousin, who used to be a leader of a rock band...the Son's Song came out effortlessley from the strings, and the Re-deads were rendered helpless. This was more humane than tearing apart each and every one.
The castle loomed ahead...
"Alright, looks like we're going on foot!"
"Are you retarded? First you play the zombie-things a song, and now a Zora army attacking on foot?"
"You need to trust me, those Wall Masters are too much, and they'll have the high ground anyw-"
The confusion returned as a giant Stalfos jumped and landed in front of us.
"Charge!"
As I reluctantly forced another slippery, cool peach wedge down my throat I heard a rustling at my door. My eyes immediately darted to the space between the stone wall and my barricaded door. Blast it! I had forgotten to stick a rag in there to stop light and noise from escaping. Now the redead - or worse - knew my position. I knew the barricade would hold; I wasn't afraid about that; what I was afraid of was running out of firewood the next day and being stuck inside without a source of warmth. I glanced over at my lab. The entire volume of blood had still not been pumped into the second beaker.
This guard shack strategically didn't have any windows - that's why I picked it as my shopartment - so I couldn't very well look outside to see what was there. Instead I crept slowly up to the door and placed my ear against it. My ear was immediately greeted with a loud, but melodic (can knocking be melodic?) knock. The noise obviously startled me and my hooded face recoiled a bit from the door, but it was against the wood again as fast as I had jumped. I listened more intently and made out, "...hope someone ho...".
Whatever was out there wasn't dead, or if it was it had the most intact vocal chords of any zombie I've come across. If that was the case I would definitely need to study its anatomy. What if it was the punk with the scarf again, though? My blood boiled. Whatever it was knew I was home though, no use hiding that.
"Oy! Who is it then? What matter of ghost are you?" I yelled through the door.
I continued rambling. I couldn't help it, talking was the only thing that helped me know that I was still in the same place. I finally managed to stop myself and end by saying. "Please, I just need a place to stay the night, and then I'll be gone."
I was horrified.
They were literally bisected perfectly, and before the two halfs of each fell, I turned away.
"By Nayru, did you see what that...thing..."
There were scared as all fuck. We didn't stand a chance now.
It swung a second time, striking more. I tried to attack, but those bones are as thick as a tree, there was no stopping them. I had to do something very fast, or we were all going to die. Before it could make a third attempt, I strummed out the Serenade of Water, which my cousin taught me...I was reminded of him as the entire army swept away in a blue light...
We ended up at Lake Hylia, exactly where I had planned. Good.
"Alright, listen here! We ne-"
"We quit! You're a sucky general, and that skeleton thing just ripped those guys to pieces! We're never going to trust you! Get the hell out of here!"
"Gr...LISTEN! I'M DOING THE BEST JOB I CAN. I SAVED ALL OF YOUR ASSES OUT THERE, AND I DEMAND A LITTLE RESPECT! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO GET OVER THE FACT THAT THOSE MEN DIED WITHOUT YOU SHIT-FOR-BRAINS BLAMING IT ON ME? NO ONE COULD HAVE PREDICTED THAT! NOW GO BACK TO THE DOMAIN, SO YOU CAN ALL SIT ON YOUR ASSES AND WAIT FOR GANON TO KILL YOU. AT LEAST I GIVE A DAMN!"
"...leave, you arragant fool!"
"...No. I'm not going to let you all die. I won't go alone!"
"I think you're more than capable!"
...?! Ruto had popped out.
"I heard the whole thing...Listen, I'll make you a bow and some arrows infused with ice if you'll calm down. We need you to to go and do this for us. I know you want to protect us, but right now, the best thing is for you to go it alone, so you don't have the cowards to take care of."
"Ice arrows?"
"Yes, just give me a couple days. By the way, we found a Sheikah boy, and we're taking care of him...he's begun to wake up."
"I'll go see him".
This certainly didn't sound like the punk kid that pulled a butter knife on me earlier, and if it was a ghost or other form of trickery, then I could definitely examine its properties like I had thought before.
"H-wait THERE!" I yelled the last part. My mind raced around. What to cover, what to hide?
The fire was still going, no need to add fire wood. My shelf of food was normal enough. My bed - which was a pile of once-expensive rugs - in the corner was also inconspicuous. My eyes landed on my lab. Crud, can't let any strangers ruin my work. The heart had since finished pumping all the blood to the second beaker. I raced over to the table, my innumerable rags and robes flowing behind and around me, and removed the dagger from my swathes. In two motions the heart was impaled on the rusty metal and stopped it's eerie movements. In two more the dagger was back close to my breast. With a final three motions the beaker of infused blood was against my lips, I drank an entire gulp of the thick wretched stuff, and the beaker was back on the table. I removed one of my larger wrappings (I think it was even the one I suffocated the fire with earlier) and in a post-script motion waved it over the table where it parachuted out to full size and slowly fell over the entirety of my equipment. With my more sensitive possessions thusly hidden I moved to the door and began removing the furniture barricading it.
In a minute or two the only thing standing between myself and whatever was outside was a thick door. In a second or two I cracked it open and peered into the night. What stood in front of me did indeed appear to be a Hylian girl. My eyes moved down the alley and I saw a few redead chillaxing in the dark. I looked back at the girl and swung the door open to maximum openosity.
"I've been to your ranchy-ranch before. Can not remember how may-nee years eez-ben." I saw the cuts and scrapes on her bare skin, "Letsus patchen you up."
"Wait," I said quietly as I realized something, "you've been t' the ranch? You don't look familiar, but it is hard to see ya under all those cloaks." I remarked dryly. I don't trust him yet, but it's either here or out with the monsters.
I poked my head out into the alley to see the redead down the way. They were preoccupied with sad memories of their lives no doubt. They did not notice the open door. I brought my shrouded head back in and closed the door.
"I'd be lessen shrouded thusly if it weren't so freezed in here. When you get to my age every draft kills," the last word left my mouth and (literally) hung in the air as my breath condensed into a sheer cloud of vapors. My vision blurred and refocused in less than a second. I felt the blood working its magic in my stomach. It was warm and good.
"You can still move and aren'ted so frozen with your youngitude. Help me block this door up. Then we'll patch you up and get some food in you. Get you some blankets too. While we're doing that you cannen tell me why you'ren come to this hell."
My character's intentions match his words in this case. If you're so inclined you can yourself write his actions (and even simple nods/"uh-huh"s) from the barricading up to the blanket fetching. If you want a more in depth conversation or different actions than outlined here please allow me time to respond.
He started to run to make sure he couldn't be followed. It was a long way from Lake Hylia to the Castle town again. "I'll have to stop somewhere..." In the distance, Lyunix could see Lon Lon Ranch. "It will have to do...." He said, as he noticed the sun beginning to set.
{3 Days Later}
"Here's your ice arrows. Listen, you need to be careful out there. Ganondorf's minions are not going to let you fly through his castle like that. Your life is going to be threatened, and I don't want you pushing yourself! You need to know your limits, and keep them in mind. Don't be a hero."
"I'm not going to the castle, Ruto."
"Where to, then?"
"Gerudo valley. I can swim up the waterfall that flows into the Lake to get there rather quickly."
"Why?"
"It's Ganondorf's homeland. I'm going to have to sneak around and dig up some dirt on hi-
BOOM!
An earthquake shook the very ground underneath me.
"What was that?"
"Well, Zora, that was none other than Hyrule Castle blowing to bits!"
I did a double take. An owl was perched on the tree above me, and talking.
"It actually caused many building to fall down in Castle Town, Zora Boy. Hoo hoo! You're lucky you got out in time. Ganondorf's raised a new castle in its place, with lava flowing in from the mountains!"
"Where did you come from? Who are you?"
"It doesn't concern you, Zora. I'd not believe any rumors about the Hero of Time, though."
"H-Hero of Time?"
"Forget I mentioned that, hoo hoo!"
He took off, leaving a feather behind.
Lyunix had arrived at Lon Lon ranch only seconds before nightfall. If he hadn't the stalchildren would have certainly attacked him. Hiding behind the barn, he watched the owner of the ranch. He seemed to be irritating the horses, and the horses seemed very thin. Lyunix hid in the shadows until the owner went into his house mumbling something about counting his rupees.
Once he was free to move about, Lyunix began searching for any sign of the princess, though he didn't believe they would hide hear. After a few hours of fruitless searching, Lyunix began thinking of where he would try next. 'They're not in the castle town......or the lake.....she wouldn't go to death mountain or kakariko village, they're too close...' Lyunix stood up as the sun began to rise."The zora's wouldn't be attacking the castle if the princess was with them, that leaves the desert and the woods.....' As Lyunix said this, the door to the man's house opened. Lyunix sprinted to the exit to hyrule field. "Woods it is." He said, hoping he had not been seen.
