edited July 2008 in Games
well, sony's announced a October 2008 release date for LBP, and I can't bloody wait! This game is gonna be awesome. I mean - look how lame it makes powerpoint look - (and yes, this whole presentation was created with the built in tool set and played by the lead developer live during the talk.)

Hooray for sack boy!!!

Yeah I saw the commercial that has MGS4, LBP, and GT5:prologue, and I drool everytime....they might be pulling through!

I think the PS2 might last longer than the PS3... it's still looking that way.

What do you do in Little Big Planet?
  • edited July 2008
    Eat jumbo shrimp.

    Delicious.

LBP is essentially a wide open engine. It comes with a set of built in levels, but the builder is really the point. You design goals and levels, things like races or challenges, and it's completely free form. Users can submit levels to Sony and they'll be regularly publishing users' levels. It's kinda weird to explain... just watch this.

So it's GMod on the PS3?

God, I do want that game though, to be honest :(
  • edited July 2008
Problem for me is that it's the only game I'd want a PS3 for. That would make it a $460 game.

    EDIT: Plus tax.

    Ditto. ):

I don't really want a PS3 for anything right now, honestly it does seem like a Gmod for the PS3, and honestly, even without the wire-mod addition, Gmod is way more flexible from what I've seen.

Point in favor against Gmod: collaborative capabilities.

You can actually go online in Gmod, they have a Gmod server even. And if you need to, LAN

    I see.

I don't actually know anything about Gmod.

Mmm.. You see, it's kinda like Little Big Planet.

GMod makes me think of my old Unreal modding days. Good times. Nothing quite beats making your own zany weapons, levels and monsters. The zombie that would get up and walk around when nobody was looking at it was great. I wish I still had that.

All you need to know is that it's awesome and $10 on steam.

Plus the $45 for The Orange Box if you don't have it.
  • edited July 2008
You can download both of them for $0 :]
  • edited July 2008
We're not gonna condone that here though.

Indeed, I think the point everyone's secretly trying to make is, they to think "Little Big Planet, YAY!" This game is gonna be friggin sweet. Oh, and it's gonna be all Home integrated too, but I don't know how I feel about Home yet...

Not true at all. You only need any source powered game made by valve. Even if you only have Counter Strike: Source you get all the Half Life 2 models, etc.

Someone buy the effing game, I want us to make killer robots and battle them!
  • edited July 2008
yeah i think Gmod comes with the HL2 models and then every game you add adds its own models
  • edited July 2008
Plus you can download loads of custom models for free.

Speaking of which, I need to make more of those 3D zelda comics!

    THIS THREAD'S NOT ABOUT GMOD!!!!:police:
  • edited July 2008
It's the Toon Patrol! Cheese it!
  • edited July 2008
I know this thread isn't about gmod, but it needs mentioning that you can download the old (unsupported) version of gmod for free! So if you want to try it before you buy, you can get that one. The newer one is much more stable and has a lot better features, but you still get the basic idea.

Little Big Planet looks pretty awesome. Too bad I don't know a single person with a PS3.
