It's not as physically enduring as, say, a triathalon is, but it's still a sport. Saying it's not is actually kind of stupid.

Can you throw a ball several hundred meters from the outfield towards home plate, and aim it correctly? Can you hit a ball that's flying at you over 90mph with a small wooden stick? Can you be dropped into a team and have the near hive-mind necessary of a well-oiled team?

Just because it's not physically straining doesn't mean it's not a sport. It requires finesse. Fencing requires much more finesse than physical prowess, and I wouldn't dare call that not a sport, because I know anyone good at fencing could beat the hell out of me with a broomstick.

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but that comment was pretty damn retarded.

There are far more ambiguous "sports" than baseball. Some good ones to discuss are cheerleading, Nascar driving, and marching band.

I've also never really considered golf to be a sport. I understand the skill and hand-eye coordination that goes into it. I sure as hell can't hit a ball 300 yards, but I can't juggle either and that's hardly a sport.

It has to have "ball" in the name to be a sport.
    Baseball? Sport.
    Football? Sport.
    Basketball? Sport.
    Golf? Not a Sport.
    Pinball? Sport!

What about winter sports? Curling is the only thing worth watching.

Hamelin, it sure is. Curling and diving. I forget where all the pretty men are in winter olympics :( ...and sledding. Ohhhh boy! 500 something more days! and the ski jumping! Now that I think of it, I like all the sports in the winter olympics. Party at my house!

    Sweet!
  • edited August 2008
But wait, does the party start when the winter olympics do? OR does it start now and it doesn't end until the winter olympics do?
  • edited August 2008
Well I don't have anything to do for the next 4 years! Oh wait... college...

Like you said, nothing to do.

    1 1/2 years, that's all!

It begins and ends with the Olympics. It will not be very exciting before then, you see. And it could get expensive, all this partying.
