Halloween Movies

edited September 2008 in Movies and Shows
Halloween is coming up next month and in preparation My and I are making up a list of movies we want to watch in October. We're looking for movies, not necessarily scary ones, but ones centered around Halloween. Like Hocus Pocus, for instance.

All the searches I do online don't come up with much, aside from a generic list of scary movies. Do you guys have any ideas?

What was the name of that one movie where there was a world of monsters underneath beds? One little boy became friends with his monster. It was Little Monsters, or something like that? Does anyone remember it? I loved that movie as a kid.

It's not specifically Halloween themed, but it's play-scary themed.

One cannot forget the Nightmare Before Christmas. Or maybe that one is Christmas themed? I don't really know, it's kinda both.

Well, this is the list we have now (including some that we just want to watch, that may not be strictly adhering to my criteria) in no particular order.
    The Halloween Tree
    Beetlejuice
    Little Shop of Horrors
    Hocus Pocus
    Monster House
    The Sixth Sense
    Hellboy
    The Nightmare Before Christmas
    Something Wicked This Way Comes

I do indeed remember Little Monsters.. I think Howie Mandell is the main monster character, isn't he?

Ernest Scared Stupid is a Halloween movie, as well.
Also, Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin, and Garfield's Halloween Special.

    Who is My?

Little Monsters, starring Fred Savage? OF COURSE I remember it.

Donnie Darko is one for the list.

Does Donny Darko actually have anything to do with Halloween though?

    It takes place during halloween.

Why do you think he's wearing the stupid bunny costume?

Why are you wearing that stupid man costume?

Yes, but does it actually have anything to do with Halloween or is it mostly coincidental?

I think it has less to do with Halloween and more to do with time travel and the end of the world. There's quite a bit of complicated backstory that isn't presented in the movie.

But no, I think it's relation to Halloween is just coincidental.

I really didn't like Hellboy. Too many cheesy one-liners and cliches.

My's got the hots for the whole Hellboy thing.

But it had David Hyde Pierce!

For some reason I always get David Hyde Pierce and Neil Patrick Harris mixed up.

Can you really make a list of movies that have to do with Halloween and not include the movie called "Halloween"?
  • edited September 2008
    Apparently, yes.

    Still seems wrong to me.
