Hlavco's Stuff.
Since I don't have a board to myself anymore, I'll just make a thread here for my arts and stuff. I guess if a comic ever comes up, I'll post it here too, but for now it's just pictures.

This first one's actually kind of old. It's from the summer of 2007, but I've never uploaded it anywhere. I mean, I think it looks good, but it just seems too empty to call "finished". Anyway, this picture is supposed to convey that annoying feeling when you wake up earlier than you wanted to, but can't get back to sleep because the sun's already shining in the window. I don't get that feeling anymore, because by going to college I've gained the ability to fall asleep at any hour of the day...

This one started as a joke picture for another forum, of a pichu "begging". It turned out better than I expected, so I'm posting it. I actually threw it together in under an hour, and used plain gradients for all the shading, so it's surprising that it wound up looking nice.
The next group of pictures are all new ones. I got a tablet for Christmas, so these are all practice in coloring drawings using Photoshop rather than vectors. The first one is from scratch, the other two were traced over old notebook drawings.

And were you calling me a furry, or implying that you wanted me to draw you a furry? The sentence was confusing.
Edit: Moustache'd
Speaking of which, things seem to have come full-circle character-wise. While people are finally starting to realize that Eevee's not a male, today somebody actually referred to Pichu as a girl.
My question for you is this: Would you rather have a crappy update sooner, or a better update who-knows-how-long later?
Major Point: More comics makes for a larger archive
You could just add a joke, or gowith old reliability, make an eevee gender confusion joke. I would be happy with either choice.
It's good to have an update like this, try to give us little updates like this more often.
I just went with the short, plot-moving update. Updating sooner = less people think we're dead.
Nice fourth-wall reference
--edited for outdated, dead links--
Though it's pretty unlikely that the 'Arcade' or 'Forum' links will be active as soon as the new theme is applied. I've still got work to do on those. The look is a little busier overall, but at least it looks like a little more effort has been put into it. I might also update the panel borders on the newer comics to match it a little better.
I hate walking comics. I have to freakin' actually draw different poses in each panel... But hey, only one more comic, and then we can finally return to normalcy! And yeah, the long hiatus was totally just a test of Eevee's willpower. I'm sticking by that.
Man, I'm kinda getting tired of Eevee's mane. I mean, it used to be "Wow, I completely screwed this up! Oh well, the mane'll cover it." but now it's like "Hey, that came out pretty good. Darn, the mane's gonna cover it..." Oh well.
This image was for sort of a competition on another site. The use of cheesy Photoshop filters was encouraged (Lens Flare was actually one of the requirements, the other being the presence of a trophy), so this isn't really anything to take seriously.
And here's pichu devouring the best reason to get a PS3. The props aren't completely related, because this was taken from "Part 2" of the above competition, and the rest of the picture was cropped due to crappiness.
Story arc over, I'm going to bed.
Edit for random observation: According to Google Analytics, one year ago today was the most hits I've ever had in a single day (tied with the week before that) at 93. Lately we've been cruising in the 20s. Interestingly, the busiest period seemed to be during a month-long hiatus in the middle of an otherwise decent updating streak.
I like numbers.
Also, apparently more visitors use Wii than Linux.
It was funny, but moreover I appreciate the originality. I don't claim to have seen everything, but I don't think I've seen this particular play on the fourth wall before.
This one wasn't that great, but it's like tradition or something. I may stop doing these types next year. Also, I think I'm going to officially start using my new site layout with the next update, April 12th, even if I don't have a comic to go with it yet. The layout's not completely finished. It's just more fun to work on something when you can see the results up there.
I just realized that Eevee's adventure spanned the entirety of Season 3. It began with the season intro comic, and finished with this previous update. Dunno if I'll have a long story like that this season. If I do, it'll probably involve a side character, because removing a main cast member made it hard for some comic ideas to work last year.
Comic is up! On time! And yes, the title is totally a reference to Mario's comic.
The frame of the comic looks different because I was trying to make it better match the look of my new site layout that I put up today. It's not in a sub-subdomain anymore, so there's one less annoying dot in the URL! I'll keep posting stuff here, so don't feel obligated to post in those almost-guaranteed-to-be-inactive forums I put up there. I just like forums is all.
I guess Pichu took my year-old advice and decided to move around a little bit during these talky comics. Eevee's stuck in one spot, but I've drawn her so much in the past few updates that I'll forgive this one.
I scanned in a whole bunch of eevees, to sorta try one of those "style progression" pictures. If you start at the top-left and spiral inward clockwise, they're in a vague 2005-08 order. I say 'vague' because I'm very bad about dating things. That fifth one on the top is, in fact, concept art for Comic #1.
Anyway, something I noticed a little while ago that's very apparent here, is that I draw with a skew. Everything is leaning to the right. And the weird thing is, I don't notice it while I'm doing it. But then when I flip it, everything suddenly looks all wrong. Now that I've found the problem, it's easy to just skew things back to the left after I scan them, but still, it makes a lot of my old sketches look even worse than I thought they were.
Now you can't say they always looked good! That oldest one actually has a date on it, 3/2/2005.
WAIT, I can make it good!
I think we should have awesome as a smiley.
No.
In every comic, it seems like there's one thing that is just really hard for me to draw, and takes forever to do. In this one, it was Maurice's left foot in the first panel. Which was immediately covered up by Pichu. Dang it.
The silent sentret sitting there is a bit of a curiosity. I want to like sentrets, but it's hard, because I don't like pokemon that are just blobs with hands and feet sticking out. If I use it again, it'll probably have an extreme makeover like Pichu, who really doesn't look anything like his namesake anymore.
EDIT: You know, people always seem to mention the art whenever I post comics with Sandshrew in them. Maybe I should use him more...
I don't have access to my own computer for a few weeks, so instead of a real comic, here's a couple half-baked ideas that wouldn't have stood on their own. I don't know how widespread Geico's commercials are, so if you don't understand the first one, just watch this. There's a whole series of those commercials.
Also, the gray-space is a dangerous place. The only escape is through a trick of the mind. Close your eyes and imagine a very gray setting. Like a garage. Now locate the exit and use it.
It's a legitimate question!
Not much new ground being tread in this comic, which is why I didn't wait the full two weeks to put it out. Would've felt bad. This is really more of an addendum to the first Grand Quest comic, and sort of a closeout to Eevee's arc (no more rock jokes). There will be another new comic next weekend if things go according to plan.
So, how 'bout that sentret? Besides Pichu, it's the first new pokemon ever to have a speaking role. It's also breaking my usual conventions by having small(ish) eyes and a visible mouth. The combination of no nose and no mouth looked kinda creepy.
Some people have been creeped out in the past by the fact that some of my pokemon never actually appear to close their eyes. That's just how I've always drawn it. It used to be that you could make an argument that their eyelids were simply black in color, but then I started giving them colored eyes. Darn. Oh well, pokemon biology doesn't need to make sense.
Also, how did I manage to forget to throw in a link for that last comic?
Drawn for a thing on another forum.
"I appreciate that, doctor, but let me ask you: In all your failsafe techniques is there any provision against an attack by Bee-Rex?"
A comic. Also, I had a little remix competition on my site a few weeks back, and got four fine entries. At least one of them contains bad language: #1 #2 #3 #4
#3 was ultimately voted the winner.
Four different takes on the same picture. The first is the original pencil, the second is a tablet traceover. The third is a stylized vector traceover, and the fourth is a combination of the second and third, using the vector outlines with a shading layer that's mostly transparent on the tablet mew.
I want to put the mew in its own picture, but I can't think of a background right now.
Also, our Christmas lights are awesome.
It's paras. Hooray?
And here's some logo ideas for a game I'm in a group working on. I'm on the development team rather than the design team so contributing art isn't really my job, but I got bored during the group meeting. We went with "BadAstro" as the final name, because puns are awesome sometimes.

It'll be a hit for sure!
Will this comic ever die? Not now at least.
(Who would run a hot-dog stand in the middle of the desert?)
My Pokemon drawings have officially entered the 5th generation.
And they probably won't stay there long.
I'm glad I got out of that franchise while the gettin' was good. Gold/Silver forever!
I dunno the first couple of generations were awesome, but 4th and 5th...I dunno, you would think they'd be running out of ideas (And if Bidoof has taught me anything they have).
I like the grass one.
Powerful friends.
Charmander friends. Watch yourself.
Besides, league rules only allow one Pokémon to be sent out at a time. We ain't playin' no crap doubles rules.
These things happen.
Please note that the fact that my Pokémon were always like 20 levels higher then yours had NOTHING to do with it.
It being difficult to transfer pokemon from old gen to new gen may be an extra factor, but I doubt it was relevant. Think of it this way: how many people do you know have actually filled their pokedex (at least at the time of Diamond/Pearl)? I've been out of the scene for a while, but when I left there was trading capability between Ruby/Sapphire and Fire Red/Leaf Green and Diamon/Pearl. Andrew and I had the six of those between us in college, and there were still gaping holes in our Pokedex from portions the old Gold/Silver pokedex, most notably their starters. I think that many of these holes could be filled through other games, and through Pokemon tourneys and events, which also know how to get gamers spending more money on knick knacks and other crap.
Gotta catch 'em all.
Kinda thinkin' of jumping into my Gold game again, kicking Red around a bit. Good times!
'Tis awesome man, keep up the good work.
The lines are super clean, did you do that in illustrator? Though like, as cute as it is (that little face is just haha!) like there should lines at the top of the eyes since there are like lines around the rest of the eye. That would like, make more sense. And like the shadow is actually like in the incorrect spot or whatever. If you look at like the shading like on the face is a bit lower so naturally the shadow would follow the shading, or the shading the shadow I guess. I don't know, that like, would make sense, wouldn't it?
Also like the black lines in the background like really flatten out like the space or whatever because like, you know, like the sidewalk seems like it has. . . . I don't know, let me think. . . . . .. . . . . Okay, so like the concrete blocks feel like they're floating next to each other in this weird little subspace or whatever. So getting rid of the lines would definitely help or something.
Oh and like it just really flattens out the space I guess.
Oh also like, the highlights of hte eys would dotally I don't know, like, um, be where the sun is hitting them, not the same direction as the pupils, haha!
I counted as well.
Also, nicely done Hlavco.
Okay, so, ignoring a lot of the meanies (
What I like mean by the sidewalk thing that I was talking about. . . Okay, so if you look at the side walk by itself, it looks like there is a space in between the actual cement blocks to me because the perspective is right and everything. The darker color that is the filling or whatever that would be on an actual sidewalk almost looks like it's almost a bunch of blocks sitting next to each other without the filling in there.
All I was like trying to say is that, just try removing the lines from the background to see if that makes the background have any more punch or something. Try to create a different element in the background you know, like it doesn't have the same exact build as the actual character, because they still would have like a lot in common in the way you drew them (just lacking the outlines haha) it probably wouldn't feel totally different or whatever.
Also that doesn't look creepy at all! It looks like he's looking at me! Still so cute.
Judging from the lines in the spaces of the concrete at the corners of the blocks, the lack of this filling seems to be the case in Hlavco's picture.
I was walking around my neighborhood, and most of the time I've noticed that every other crack is filled in. So I guess it would make sense for me to fill one of the two in.
Only the bottom few are colored because I accidentally put most of the outlines on the same layer as the scans themselves. But honestly, look at the thing... adding color doesn't do a whole lot. Besides, since the paper's still visible you get a bonus mouse and Bowser to look at.
The bottom right picture is inspired by a hat I saw some guy wearing at the horse races. The weasel isn't normally nearly that big, but I wanted him leaning on the counter for that picture.
Oh look a comic.
I've always been paranoid about calling in to radio stations because I'm afraid I'll forget what station I'm listening to when they inevitably ask. Pichu took a different route.
What is this "comic" you speak of? I haven't seen one in so long I've forgotten what they look like...
Beware the mighty Chuzilla. This was for a 30-minute art jam on a different site. It looked like this after the thirty minutes was up. I decided to clean it up a bit afterward. And also flip it.
You should add some tiny tanks and jets though. Maybe some tiny fleeing civilians.
*Raises Hand*
(Who fights a fire type with a fire type? Oh well, they're just fighting fire with fire I suppose.)
Sadly, as the microphone was too high for any of them to properly wail into, their concert, as well as their indie cred, was shot.
I especially like the village layout.
Found a gift that would be perfect for a friend of mine, and since she's just as into pokemon as I am, of course I had to break out the crayons and crudely scribble them all over the box.
Gonna color this at some point. Hopefully soonish.
I'm real happy with the coloring, it's much smoother than other things I've drawn in Photoshop.
Added bonus: Original, crappy background.
Also, I've been slowly working on a little Flash game thing (don't worry about logging in, it doesn't have any account-related features yet). At the moment all you can do is walk around and hit into walls, but it'll hopefully be awesome one day. The reason the development is going so slow, aside from my general laziness, is that I'm coding pretty carefully in regards to flexibility and expandability, so that eventually this can be a big huge awesome game instead of a little proof-of-concept thing.
Right now the collision lines are visible, because I just got the collisions working properly last night and am happily showing them off. They'll disappear next update.
Check it out, yo. Two comics in two weeks. I'm winning!
Also, here's the site for old-timey occupations. There are lots of great ones! Still no clue what a maccaroni loper is, though. The internet yields literally no results.
Also: "Qwylwryghte"? Totally gonna use that in Scrabble.
If you're wondering about the high volume of unfinished drawings, I'm doing a "draw something every day" thing on another forum. You get the decent ones filtered through. Here are some other decent ones:
Another forum!? I'm incensed!
Old:
New:
Also made a tiling footer image to put behind it:
The contact information is officially the most attractive thing on my website... : |
Sorry to hijack your thread, but this reminded me of a picture I drew a few years back for a friend:
*Fades back into ether*
I like the texture of the weasel's fur.
Colored pencils scan poorly and also don't seem to play nice with regular pencils.
I was gonna draw this wacky fifth gen pokemon quickly for a little forum avatar image, but somehow ended up spending way more time than was necessary on the background, so I just scaled the whole thing up (it was originally like 250 pixels high) and now I just have a regular picture. I guess that works too.
More non-old pokemon.
Also, a comic:
I usually stick to 1st-gen pokemon (aside from Pichu), but these are 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
I mean, I would think it's okay, given that there are Facebook sharing buttons on many pages. But even if I link directly to the artist's page, I feel a little weird for reasons I'm not sure about.
Of course, some artists are so paranoid about such things that they do stuff like this:
Yes, that picture has four different watermarks on it.
Just a quick thang for the sake of activity. This link will probably show the wrong comic once I upload an actual non-filler comic079.png. Or I could make this one nice enough to give it a number, and let the next comic be 80.
I drew this several months ago for an activity on another forum that looks like it'll never be completed, so I'm gonna go ahead and post it. It's called an "art worm", and what happens is, one person draws a picture, and then sends a few pixels from one side to the next person, without letting them see the whole thing. The next person uses those pixels as a starting point to draw their picture, and then sends along a piece of it to person #3, and so on. The fifty left pixels in this picture don't belong to me, that's why the style in that half of the picture is different.
And here's a scribble-eevee I drew when I had ten minutes to kill last night. I like the sloppiness, so I'm probably not gonna finish it.
Now to go delete a bunch of spam posts.
Also another thing:
2/1 - I was gonna make this a lucario, but I figured I'd hold off on the pokemon for at least a couple days, so I turned it into a weird fox thing instead.
2/2 - This is a bad pun related to My Little Pony and also Yoshi's Island. Long story short, the pony is sometimes referred to by the name "Ditzy" and Yoshi's Island has a well-known level called "Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy". Yeah. I just wanted an excuse to mimic the Yoshi's Island background style because it's really fun.
2/3 - See? I waited a couple days before doing any pokemon. Some guy asked me to draw his shiny typhlosion like... two years ago. Here it is!
2/4 - A car. Wasn't doing that great so I didn't bother fancying it up.
2/5 - I was literally unable to draw anything good that night.
2/6 - Mountains, yo.
2/7 - A cow in a sombrero.
2/8 - Giant lucario drunkenly hits on national monuments.
2/9 - Weird pattern thing that looked better in my head.
2/10 - Random quadraped I MEAN ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL
2/11 - While drawing a weasel I screwed up the lower body in such a way that it ended up resembling a dress, and decided to roll with it. (S)he is not amused.
More to come next week.
V-Day gets its own thing.
2/12 - A charmander and squirtle. Slightly different style then usual.
2/13 - Some kid with a balloon.
2/14 - The style for this was inspired by the ending of this Strong Bad Email.
2/15 - I was gonna color this car, but I accidentally drew the outlines on the background layer, so there wasn't much I could do with it.
2/16 - Generic fluffy quadruped. Trying some new shading, I like it.
2/17 - Fishcar?
2/18 - Zangoose disagrees with this plan.
Three drawings to go. Maybe they will be better than this batch, which I didn't like that much.
HOW 'BOUT THEM HLAV-ARTS
There. 29 days, 29 arts.
There hasn't been much new stuff this month because I was computerless for two weeks while my laptop was being replaced.
Here's a pichu, anyhow:
Changed up the style on it a little bit.
Here are some various pichus and eevees I drew weeks/months ago and forgot to post here (with the exception of the pichu three posts above this one):
Also this:
Also, some art from art jams I did on another forum:
First one required us to draw princesses. My princess was a squirrel, which lost to a spider princess and a devil princess. Probably the girliest thing I've ever drawn.
Second jam was about turning characters into old-timey cartoons. Here are two traveling salesmen.
The third one assigned everyone a random superpower and had us make our character into a superhero with that power. I got necromancy, despite being probably the only person on the internet who isn't obsessed with zombies.
Also, and not for an art jam, here's a zangoose. Most people draw them bipedal and with big claws, but the games say that they're only like that during battle, so I decided to draw a normal boring one instead. I wasn't too happy with it so I made a lazy background.
I'm doing the daily drawing thing again this month. First week is short because it started on a Wednesday.
8/1: I wonder how the computer racers felt about being forced to restart the race whenever the human didn't do well enough to continue? At one point I was going to make this a comic, but I think the single drawing works well enough.
8/2: I'm taking user suggestions this time around to ensure I don't run out of ideas. This user's suggestion was "rain". I think it came out kinda cool.
8/3: Some gestalt crap and a house.
8/4: Waited till super late to do this one, so I did "bacon", the quickest-sounding user suggestion. Well, the quickest one that wasn't "a penis".
Daily Draw August, Week 2.
8/5: A mewtwo.
8/6: A happy tree.
8/7: User suggestion,"Turn a rabbit into a doughnut". I accidentally turned a donut into a rabbit.
8/8: Weasel in a bit of a different style.
8/9: User suggestion, "insane clown possum".
8/10: Just some vector-y letters.
8/11: A funky tabletop.
Week 3, not as good as Week 2:
8/12: A wintery tree. Not very August-y but whatever.
8/13: A rattata. I kinda cheated here, the original came out so bad that I went back today and improved it.
8/14: Just a pichu doodle, as I wasn't feeling well and just wanted to draw something quick before bed.
8/15: User suggestion, the dreaded cereal shark. The fact that it is Shark Week is just a coincidence.
8/16: A car that actually came out pretty cool. My favorite drawing this week by far.
8/17: User suggestion, sort of. They wanted me to draw some character expressions, but I don't really have the imagination to think of too many without any context. So I just doodled heads.
8/18: Waited until 3:45am to draw this one, so I just scribbled for fifteen minutes and went to bed. I actually like the smaller fox better, and that one took about ten seconds.
Come to think of it, I actually forget the day that you normally post these on. If you normally do it at a time later than now, feel free to ignore me and carry on.
Week 4 (cut short by traveling):
8/19: Layered background thing.
8/20: User suggestion, feraligatr.
8/21: Slingshot raccoon.
8/22: Some shapes and colors.
Except for that one thing, all four of these are amazing work.
Week 5, another shortened week due to traveling. I'm extending the drawings to September 7th to make it up.
27th: An eevee with weird background.
28th: Various tumblr responses. If I was cheap I could totally count this as eight drawings.
29th: Fighter dude.
30th: My Animal Crossing villager, who has a strange obsession with the t-rex skull I gifted her. She told me she likes to have conversations with it when they're alone at night.
Daily Draw August is done, and it only took till a quarter of the way through September!
9/4 - Some guitar guy sketch.
9/5 - Redraw of this fox-thing I made during Daily Draw February.
9/6 - That night I was too busy catching up on Homestuck to draw anything good.
9/7 - I decided to make a big, nice drawing to make up for the many low-effort ones this month. Didn't manage to finish (so many trees), luckily the rest of the collage covers a lot of the emptiness.
But to be clear, Dina is a quiet and sort of creepy girl who clearly loves dinosaurs a whole lot.
Your trees look small next to those enormous building-cubes.
I doodled up a zangoose without giving it any particular pose, so I just moved the arms around a bit till something looked decent. Couldn't decide on a final version so I just mirrored it and made two.
Hey, remember when 90% of the things I drew were angry-looking pichus? Good times.
It's weird... I feel like my comic always updates at around the same time as Witch's Brew.
Also, have a weasel and some weird music. (it's on Bandcamp for easy sharing, not because I expect anyone to actually buy it)
Art jam on a forum required a character meeting the following criteria:
a) Must be of unusual (small/large) size
b) Must have a full-body costume, and be wearing a hat of some kind. Some part of the costume must be alive.
c) There must be something unusual about the ears
So, giant stripe-eared bunny in a dino costume with a bird’s nest hat. Somebody give that cop a medal.
I'm topical.
I'm probably missing the topic. I'm pretty sheltered at times. My cave gets poor internet reception.
I kid, I kid. Nice Fennekin!
I actually drew this weasel like nine months ago and wasn't happy enough with it to upload it. Last night I went back and redid all the outlines and added a mostly unrelated background. Good enough!
So here's supposedly another 6th-gen pokemon. My feelings on it are mixed -- I'm a big fan of the "Oops, all berries!" color scheme, and it *is* better than most everything from 5th gen, but... it evolves from eevee. And it just doesn't strike me as being very eeveeish. The thing would be a hundred times better if it had its own evolution line. For now, I guess I'm just thankful it isn't as bad as last gen.
By the way, those streamers give this thing a first class, one-way ticket to "never gonna try to vector this again" town.
And what is this!? Normal type? I can't really see it being much else.
Yeah, I didn't like that last picture so I went ahead and turned it into a better pokemon.
Pokémon: 0
I've been sitting on this one for nearly a year. I was never happy with it, but I was sick of it sitting on my desktop, so I made some revisions and tossed in a background. There are still a few details bugging me that I can't quite pinpoint, however that's probably the best "open animal mouth" I've ever drawn.
Here's my attempt at Unassuming Local Guy, one of the many wonderful enemies from EarthBound. His signature attack is "Become friendly and affectionate" (target becomes solidified), and there is a small chance he will drop a Toothbrush when defeated.
Another EarthBound enemy, the Worthless Protoplasm. When defeated, sometimes drops a cookie!
This eevee wasn't originally going to be gigantic, but I shaded it with the light coming from below, and had to draw a reason why.
Perhaps my next "daily draw" month will just be thirty oversized eevees engaging in various forms of destruction.
I was having an art drought so I asked tumblr for ideas. Somebody suggested Eevee and Pichu engaging in a battle. A rap battle. Despite (due to?) the sloppiness, I'm happy with how this came out.
This sketch is damn good though, so props for that, man.
I bought a new computer chair. Now I can draw things without causing myself bodily harm. Perhaps this will increase my output!
I guess the chair didn't increase my output at all. These eevees are all between several months and a couple years old. Probably gonna color a few of them at some point, now that they're scanned in.
A mew at a diner, and the newly-revealed 6th gen braixen, who apparently uses its tail for storage.
Somebody suggested I draw a really nice human head with my right hand, and a terrible body with my left hand. Unfortunately, I'm not right-handed. He looks kinda... decomposed.
Somebody else suggested I draw a pichu eating a burger.
Scribbling around, I drew a no-animal-in-particular. Ended up looking like a sable or something in that family.
Here's my apparently-now-annual Santavee drawing, which I use for cards that I send to some people. I tried to apply the fur style that I used for the image in my last post, and while I don't think it turned out that well on the fur itself, it seemed to work great on the santa suit. Weird.
February 1st: Some character that's been in my head awhile that I never got around to drawing. She doesn't hold any position of authority, she's just a Beatles fan.
February 2nd: I don't think I've drawn a yoshi in a long time. Here's one with weird shading.
Non-daily draw: I drew a badly-proportioned pikachu, and everyone I asked said that I should just keep it that way and make it a perspective picture. Bonus borderless version, not sure which I prefer.
I see a picture. Do you see a picture?
It’s Steel-toe Baggypants McGee striking the decisive blow against his invisible opponent! Obviously.
Day 4: Rabbit Accessorizing
Day 5: I drew a squirrel and then added a bunch of swirly things and stripes and crap.
Day 6: Bedazzled Bowser
Day 7: Cyndaquil.
Day 8: I’ve got a bunch of unopened Lego sets that I’ve been holding off on playing with until I have a place where I can safely have them all set up at the same time. But after seeing The Lego Movie tonight, I was forced to build a set.
Day 9: This is the dinaroo, a species I made up in the margins of my high school notebooks to act as an enemy for a ninja character I was also drawing a lot at the time. They’re, uh… more agile than they look. And like some Mario and EarthBound enemies, every one you see will be wearing sunglasses.
Day 10: "Literal Mini-Mart", or "Animals Make Poor Business Decisions".
Judging by the expressions, this was the raccoon's idea.
Tonight was one of those nights where "what my brain is saying" and "what my wrist is doing" tended to be completely different things. It was a battle against Photoshop to make the drawing look as good as it does, but I didn't have time to shade it.
Day 11: Pickup truck.
As usual, shading style is inconsistent across the drawing. I'm just trying different things out.
Day 12: I waited too long to start, so here's a dumb guy in a snowstorm.
Day 13: Baseball kid.
I missed Friday and Saturday as they were a bit hectic, but I made up for it by drawing three pictures today. You can tell these are three different pictures, and not one big picture, because I used a different technique for each one.
Vaporeon: Vectors, borderless
Jolteon: Vectors, varied stroke width
Flareon: Freehand with tablet
I was going to let a least one of them have open eyes, but I couldn't draw eyes today, so they're all shut.
Day 17: Playing with shapes.
Day 18: Just an eevee. I wanted to get to bed on time for once. Actually, I'm surprised I got this far into the month without playing the Eevee card.
EDIT: I'ma just push the last ten days to March 1st-10th. If I happen to draw anything during this week, the schedule will be readjusted accordingly.
Day 19: I haven't drawn my weasel character in a long time. As one of the few things I regularly draw that isn't a pokemon, he needs to make an appearance once in awhile.
I'm working on giving more of my creatures four fingers instead of three. It can be tough to practice because I can never think of anything for them to do with their arms unless I know ahead of time that the picture will be showing a specific activity. The arms usually end up being added last as an afterthought.
Day 20: After surviving Wallmaster and Floormaster, Link faces his next adversary: Stairmaster.
Holy crap I had a hard time drawing tonight.
Day 21: Nidorina. If the proportions seem off, it's because I drew 80% of the thing before making a final decision on whether or not it should be a rattata.
Here's the in-progress version:
Day 22: Instead of drawing one good eevee, I drew 14 kinda bad ones. Then I made them move!
I didn't do any planning for this, I just kinda drew one eevee and then one slightly different eevee and so on. Considering that, I'd say it worked out pretty well.
Day 23: Painfully bright jigglypuff.
Day 24: I started drawing a '50s Space Age-style diner, but my motivation was sorta dulled when I did an image search and realized that the real things look way cooler than anything I could come up with.
24-hour diners are the best. The fact that my 24th drawing is a diner is a coincidence. Also, I've fallen two drawings behind.
Day 25: I had an idea for a joke, but it required a second Luigi and the first one was taking too long so nevermind that.
Day 26: I wasn't totally satisfied with the car, so I added a lopunny. Pokemon makes everything better!
Day 27: Some scenery. Started too late to get very far on it. It began as generic plants, but gradually incorporated a lot of features from the area where my grandparents live.
Day 28: Well, it took till halfway through March, but hey.
Ever since that eevee a few days ago, I've been in the mood to animate more things. This one was extra tricky since I tend not to draw pichus with a mouth in the first place.

Vectorized version of the sparkledog that I made up during Daily Draw February a couple years back. Because I need more recurring characters that aren't copyright violations.
Dragonite doing dragon things. Like needlepoint.
It's kinda sketchy because I accidentally drew on the wrong layer for awhile and was too demotivated to go back and fix everything.
Lighting experimentation. Started in 2012, abandoned, and picked up again last night. Business as usual.
Needs a lot of work, for example right now a search for "old" will return images containing "cold" or "gold". But hey, it's a start. Eventually I'll just add a search form to the page itself, but not until the functionality is more polished.
I burned my fingertips in the oven, had to use my off hand to illustrate the problem.
Edit: More off-hand practice, here's a no-character-in-particular.
Here's a couple weasels and a jolteon to break the silence. I always seem to have a summertime activity drought while I'm busy doing... summertime activities.
If you want, there's larger versions on m'site: Weasels / Jolteon
Autumn doodle.
They don't hold a candle to Mario's Zelda puns. But that's sort of the idea.
I've drawn some other stuff since the last time I updated this thread, I just haven't gathered it all in one place yet. But this picture was topical so I had to post it tonight. Oh wait, it's past midnight where I am. Darn it.
Started this on a whim for a friend and it ended up being the best thing I've made in a long time. Funny how that happens.
Also this picture give me an impression of spinning with that background and the way the fire is going sideways.
Carved some jack-o-lanterns for Halloween, and drew the pokemon Braixen, who people tend to associate with witches for some reason.
Awhile back I was kicking around the idea of doing a Neopets-style virtual pet site. So I drew up some technicolor animals. Ignore the party hats, they're just there to test party hat placement. Obviously.
Topical new-gen pokemon drawings.
Also, I'm rooting for the Cleveland Indians in the World Series, because the Cubs not winning is a timeless and beloved tradition of the game.
Some kinda were-vaporeon. I drew the body in 2012, and the head in 2016. Kinda... forgot the thing existed somehow.
Haven't drawn these two in awhile. Not since all those comic updates back in February/March. Here's some Christmas photo cheesiness.
