I am taking a trip in June!

My friend Esha is getting married on June 20th in Pennsylvania and I will be driving out there a day or so before, so I am wondering if any of you guys live along the route I will be taking to get over there / near my destination and maybe if I could crash at your place one night, you know, to make the trip awesomer. I am mulling about taking the motorcycle as well, but I don't know how feasible that would be. Couchsurfing may also be an option.

It's a few months away but I thought I'd throw it out there now.

Here is what google maps gives me.

I think I might go all the way to Philadelphia, see the sights there. I dunno.

I live in Michigan, so sadly I will not be able to help you... 2 hours isn't enough of a trip to need a place to rest.

I live completely the other direction separated by about 2 states worth of land and a sizeable body of water.

    I live in a rock.

If your motorcycle trip takes a wild detour into East Asia I can definitely put you up in my spare bedroom.

    Ditto, but for Western Australia.

I say you add a nice detour and enjoy a ride through california. lovely riding country around where mario and i live. Skyline, Highway 1, and Highway 9 are well known spots within 30 minutes! And it's not more than a few extra days on your trip!

All those who dare to pass through the treacherous land of North Dakota (most likely on your way to, or coming from Minnesota) can seek refuge at my apartment in Fargo.

    Fargo Rock City?

While well-intentioned, you are all useless! :)

It's not well-intentioned at all! They're selfishly trying to keep you all for themselves!

Drive to my house and hang out there and at no one else's house.

As long as you don't have a wood chipper. :D

Geoff is right though. California is the place to go. We have all the good sightseeing roads. Also, if you get going right now, you might be able to make it in time for tomorrow night when we are at Mario's place watching 90's hacker movies.

Fun Fact: Very little of the movie Fargo was filmed in Fargo. In fact, only one scene was said to take place in Fargo (it was actually filmed in Minneapolis), the majority was filmed in Brainerd, but the Coen Brothers thought that Fargo was a better name for a movie than Brainerd.

Haha, nice! More random knowledge. And I agree, Fargo is a much better name.

I will go to California eventually, as my brother lives there. But not this time!

Sure you will Mr. Homer, sure you will.

Didn't John kinda answer this (unintentional or otherwise) with that other thread?

Well we still don't have max participation on the googly map thingy yet.

Gah! That's such a horrible movie and not in a good way. The least they could have done was drop that hokey accent. Nobody actually talks like that.

I've never seen it, but it can NOT be worse than Burn After Reading.
  • edited March 2009
Hey Burn After Reading was cool. It wasn't a great movie but it was very entertaining. I read somewhere that an alternative title for the movie was "John Malkovich gets pissed at Brad Pitt: The Movie".

Burn after reading left a bad taste in my brain. =(

Man, what is the deal with all the Coen Brothers hate?
  • edited March 2009
It is not a lot of Coen brothers (why did you capitalize brothers?) hate! It is two people each disliking a particular Coen brothers movie. Sign me up for The Big Lebowski or Raising Arizona any day!

I quite liked both Fargo and Burn After Reading...

See, I'm bias because I actually live within range of most of the places that they had in the movie Fargo. The accent was awful and they didn't even have the decency to seem like they were trying to be funny with it. Judging by the locations they successfully managed to completely rearrange the entire state and/or shrink it down to about 1/4 the size as well. Seriously they'd be traveling hundreds if not thousands of miles during the course of the movie. This is basic stuff that's been pressed into my mind over my entire life. I can't just ignore it. It makes my brain hurt and ruins the movie for me.

Around that time I'd be in Maryland. Closest to Jeff's destination about still roughly 2 and a half hours out of the way.
