Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

So, I'm really excited about seeing Watchmen. Unfortunately, I won't get to see it until Sunday or later, but still psyched. It's a great graphic novel, and I hope the movie won't disappoint.

Anyone else going to see it or excited about it? Let's also post our reactions to the movie here.

I won't be seeing it until the 14th or later, so please, no spoilers.

I guess I should also ask, who here has or hasn't read the book?

I read the book but I wasn't too impressed by it (the beginning was good, the middle chapters had the plot slow to a crawl and the ending was just silly.) I'll probably rent this when it comes out on video.

I will most likely obtain a pirated copy eventually. I'm sure I'll see on the street one of these days.

I've never really read more than a few graphic novels, and Watchmen was not one of them.

I haven't read the graphic novel, but I had wanted to before seeing this movie lol. One of my friends owned a few dvd's of an animated version of the graphic novel, he said it was almost identical to the books, and I watched a bit of that. Not too much, but it sparked an interest!

I'll prolly see it sometime next week.

I've read the book and I just got back from seeing the movie. I really enjoyed the movie. It really streamlined the plot and cut out a lot of the weirder parts and clunkier backstory. My only problems were the acting was a little iffy at times and that they stick so closely to the book. Their faithfulness is good at places, but there are a lot of things that work better in graphic novel form and just seems odd when people act out or say in real life.

I read the graphic novel about a year ago, and saw the movie at midnight. I wasn't expecting much because I had heard poor reviews (and the novel just doesn't translate well to movie form) but I was pleasantly surprised. I had a few minor complaints, but overall it was a very enjoyable experience.

It seems to me that someone who hasn't read the graphic novel might get a little lost on some parts, but I still recommend it!

I'm ambivalent about the movie... I enjoyed seeing it, and there were some parts that were great (I loved Jon's voice) but I didn't like how they presented the ending and the music was HORRIBLE. And I agree, the acting was iffy in some spots and some parts just seemed cheesy, despite how awesome they were in graphic novel form.
