Don't feel too bad about the 12 thing. I was technically 12 when I made my name as well. Although I didn't start actually using it until a few years later. Email wasn't really in it's prime yet when I was 12.
Long story. I was in high school, and I was in the school musical. My family from Minnesota was visiting and came to one of the shows, and loudly proclaimed how proud they were of "Jakey" in front of all my friends. Ever since, my friends called me Jakey first to mock me, but as the years passed it became a term of endearment.
It was also around this time that my friends and I were exceedingly witty and liked to insult people by calling them ______ Mc _____ for some reason -- such as Latey McLate, Drunky McDrunk, etc. On evening my friend Paul decided to call me Jakey McJake, and we all liked the sound of it. We had just gotten the internet at my house around this time, and it became my default handle, including the Inksandwich forums. This is also why the orange icons next to the threads are called Shakey McJakeys, which I think is the best honor I've ever received.
Later in the Inksandwich days I was in college and had decided that I wanted to go on to grad school in Religious Studies and eventually become a Professor. So, I created a new account named Professor MacJake. I brought it to the Belt when the schism occurred. And here we are.
Of course, now I'm a big failure and dropping out of grad school and will probably never be a Professor, so I might have to look into a new name...
I was a fan of Digimon back in the day, and TK was my favorite character, my original username was tk_126, since his full name was Takeru, I thought it would be classier to use that instead. I now know it's kind of silly.
"Hlavco" is the imaginary company I thought up when I needed something to write on the sides of race cars I was doodling in sixth grade. It's just my last name with the last two letters replaced with 'co'.
I could totally use a new name, because I don't wanna be named after a company. That would create confusion should I ever actually make such a company.
My name also came about when I was roughly 12. In middle school I doodled all over my folders and notebooks, like everyone. I also became fascinated with protists and microorganisms so I made up a guy and called him amoeba boy. I liked the way it sounded and there we are.
The rune then told me that the fate of mankind would rest on me, the Serephel.
Oh, you're THE Serephel? I run into many people who name themselves Serephel with base in Diablo 2, but being THE Serephel, we don't have much time. You're required to meet me at the hidden rendezvous point in inner earth, so I can breif you on the next part of your mission. I'll mark the location on your map of inner Earth. It will be a long, hard, and vicious trip, but I believe that being the chosen one, you have the ability to find me.
See, in middle school, I was quite a bit obsessed with the rapper Eminem. I loved his songs, thought they were quite rebellious and risque. In 7th grade I was put in a homeroom class with a teacher nobody really liked, and most people actually switched out of the class to avoid this teacher. I was one of the kids who stuck around, and we didn't really do much in that class except goof around, so one day we ((not including the teacher, we mostly just ignored her)) all figured we needed nicknames. I think we somehow came up with my name as Eminemish, which was later shortened to Mish.
I'll have you know, I have never actually gone by this nickname, and I would guess that only a few people actually know where I got that nickname. 42 is my favorite number, so I decided to tag that onto to end of Mish. Fun fact! I'm not the only Mish42 on the interwebs.
If I were to change it now, I would change my username to Biffibisquiby (biff-IB-ih-squib-ee). I think that's what I'm going to use from now on for whatever sites I join, just because it's completely unique; if I ever come across any site where someone else has used it, I will be astounded, haha. My dad was the one who came up with 'biffibisquiby', but that, my friends, is a story for another time.
Somehow, the word "Mish" has reminded me of a sort of blob, like a thought bubble in a comic. (No offense) since your message has been "Ponderin" foras long as I've been on, your username just made sense.

It was around this time that I started learning what sexual innuendo was.

My first AOL userame from that era was Pokecartman2876. I was a combination of pokemon, my first name, batman, and my (old) adress.

You do have a map of inner Earth, don't you?
