Ghost Sightings and Stories Topic

edited April 2009 in General
I figure the OB could use a topic like this. I'll post some ghost stories later. This topic is for posting any encounters you've had with ghosts and other paranormal stuff. This topic is alsofor posting any ghost stories you find on the internet. Have fun.

    Psh ghost stories.

I don't believe in ghosts, but you know, of all the weird superstitious things to believe in, I think there are more respectable people (not crazies) that say they believe in ghosts than anything else.

I think it's just anticipating something and so you scare yourself and convince yourself that there's something there. If I had an experience with a ghost, I would probably just rationalize it and think "Nah, it was just the wind or something."

I'm pretty boring when it comes to ghost stories and stuff like that though.

This one time, I saw a ghost, so I started breakdancing in front of it, and it became my best friend.

Well, I think we've discussed this sort of topic before. I have a few cousins I trust pretty well who have had experiences that involve my dead grandmother.

I think I'd borrow my dad's opinion here and say that I believe in spirits of a sort, but maybe not so much ghosts of the sort you'd be talking here. I'm not sold on the haunting business.

Back in the 50s/60s, my great grandparents lived in New York City, and they would always rent out the upper floor of their apartment to a tenant. For awhile a guy named Mike Dolan lived up there. He was a trickster and always had a lot of fun with the kids. Eventually, he passed away.

Several years later, a younger family member (I can't remember who it was, I think one of my father's cousins)who had not known Dolan went out to the park. When he came back, he told everyone about this man he had met there. He had said his name was Dolan, and that he was a friend of the family. And then the kid showed the adults a picture the man had given to him. It was a picture of Mike Dolan, with his signature on the back.

    For realz.

Man, that Dolan was a funny guy, though. I could tell all sorts of Dolan stories, but the majority of them aren't spooky.

    From this old topic.

I'm reading a book with a ghost in it. He has just been spotted by my favourite 18th century Englishman, who remarked on how completely out of fashion the ghost's wig and trousers were. I can't wait to ride the bus on Monday and read more!

Lauren, I'm a ghost, and I'm offended at the fact that you deny my existence.

I have a similar story to Takeru’s where I found a ghost and responded to its presence by breakdancing in front of it. All the ghosts started laughing, but I started crying because I was so scared of the ghosts. Then most of the ghosts started to breakdance in front of me and I started laughing.

I was living in a crappy little apartment that did little to muffle the sounds of the neighbors. My upstairs neighbor was always rather stompy-loud. He really annoyed me at times, to the point that I'd knock on the ceiling to shut him up. Especially since his loudest time seemed to always be about 3am. I figured he must work an odd schedule and that was either when he was just getting up or just getting home. It was like that for my first 3 months in the apartment. Finally, I got a new neighbor and it was nice and quiet. About a week later I found out that my new neighbor was one of the Chinese kids from my school. After speaking with another classmate, she told me how she was surprised he wanted to move into that apartment. Nobody else wanted to take that one. About 2 months earlier, there had been a death in our apartment building. I didn't know where it was, I just knew that it was above my floor. Turned out it was the apartment directly above my own. It had been empty for a full 2 months of that stomping.
from that other spooky thread. Honestly, I don't think there are really ghosts. It just doesn't make any sense. Especially since the exact same encounters would be described as aliens or angels if the right people experienced them.

I don't really believe in ghosts, and I'm undecided on the idea of a soul. But I believe humans can have a psychological imprint in the head of someone who knew them really well, and was especially paranoid.

I also believe that humans may possibly be capable of telekinesis or something like that, and as such be able to unconsciously leave an imprint on/in an area that they associated with strong emotions. This could be place of death or somewhere especially important to them, like a home.
