I found this on SA, it works, so if you're really broke you can still send Mom a nice Hallmark card.

1. Create an account: https://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/UserRegistrationView?storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&step=1&substep=0
2. Click here: http://www.hallmark.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/home|10001|10051|-1
3. Choose and customize a 5x7 card.
4. Proceed to checkout and enter promo code CARD4MOM.

I'm still contemplating what to buy for my mother...

It's a pain for me because my mom's birthday is April 16th, so I JUST got her something. Also, my dad's birthday is June 21st, which is sort of close to father's day. This time of the year I've got to get 2 gifts for each of my parents!

And also, are these cards free, or not? Unless you're right dirt poor, it would seem that you'd want to at least drag yourself to hallmark as a sign of appreciation.

    At any rate, cool find.

I always send flowers to my mom at work on behalf of my siblings and me. Then we usually have breakfast and get her a joint gift.

Well, I wanted to mail my mom some more Hangzhou style green tea, but apparently I need documentation to mail tea leaves out of the country. Sad, she loves the stuff. So I guess I will just give her a call instead.

OR if you loved your mother you'd just get the documentation, you lazy bum.

I'll call her and talk about green tea. That's practically the same thing.

Pfft. Mother's day is a crock.

If you're only showing either of your parents how much you care on one day of the year, out of some obligation to the gods of Hallmark, then you pretty much fail as a child.

Yeah, but it matters to THEM, so we're pretty much bound. Meh.

"One day"? What about their birthdays?!

I've got it pretty bad. Mother's Day, my mom's birthday, and my parents' anniversary all fall within the space of a month.

Also, Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year for phone calls. Father's Day is the busiest day of the year for Collect calls.
