Up!

edited June 2009 in Movies and Shows
SEE THIS MOVIE IMMEDIATELY!

Spose there's gonna be spoilers and the like from here on in, so read at your own risk.

Its hard to say where I'd rank this movie among the other Pixar greats, but its definitely up there with Wall-E and Toy Story. Definitely the most unusual of Pixar movies, but in a very good way. It was also probably the most emotionally deep one too. The opening montage blew me away with the sheer range of emotions presented without feeling manipulated at all.

I was worried from the trailers that the dogs would drag the movie down. They just seemed too kiddy and out of place in the movie. But they were done brilliantly and were definitely the funniest part of the movie. My roommates and I are going to be quoting that squirrel joke for a long time I'm sure.

Pixar always manages to surprise me. I come in with absurdly high expectations, and every time they blow my expectations out of the water. I really don't know how they do it.

I'm going during the week, when there will be less children in the theater and I won't feel as much like some sort of deviant going to see a movie alone.

I'm hoping to get people to drive me to the theater tomorrow. Dare I hold out for a 3D theater trip? I think I do!

holy necro thread, but it's for another positive review for those of you that haven't seen it.

    IT
    WAS
    AWESOME.

Honestly, I cant stand kids or expensive things, But it was worth the kids in the theater and the $13.25 ticket. But they do give you GREAT 3D glasses. No more skimpy cardboard ones. And the movie was charming and funny and enjoyable.

And if you know me you'd know how sparsely I use 'charming' without sarcasm. Go see it, really.

I just saw it today, too! I laughed, and then I cried, and then laughed again! (Not literally, though). It was incredible... I still think I like Wall-e better, though. I didn't actually like the dogs too much.

I saw UP. It was quite good. Much much better than I expected.

I was surprised by how emotional it was. I was on the verge of tears at a few points in the movie, and not just because I'm a pussy. I'm glad that Pixar's devoted to making movies that can be marketed to children, but still enjoyed just as much, if not more, by their parents.

I don't remember if it was someone on the OB or somewhere else who said it, but they should just take the Academy Award for best animated picture and rename it the Pixar award.

What about those years when Hayao Miyazaki's made a movie?

I wasn't particularly interested in seeing Up, but judging by the ever increasing amounts of praise for it, I may have to see it. But I've never been one for actually going to the movie theater, so I'll just wait and rent it.

Download it. Breaking the law is what all the cool kids do. You wanna be cool, don't you?

I really liked Up. It was very poignant in the beginning, when you're introduced to this really lovely character who's charming and funny. And then she grows up gracefully, and goes through heartbreak, and then... dies. I cried. The rest of the movie was mostly funny, though I kept feeling bad for the old man. I especially liked how the kid is Asian-American, but they never point to it or make a big deal out of it. Just another person.

However, WALL-E is still my hands-down favorite of all Pixar films.
