Stupid Things You've Done On Orange Belt

edited June 2009 in General
What are some stupid things you have done on OB? Here is what I've done.

1. I said that bionicles were better than pokemon on the pokemon platinum thread.
2.Made up stories.
3. Brought up Spyro7000 on the awesome success thread asking what was so bad about him.
4.Demanding that people keep on topic when ever they would go off topic more than once.
5. Pissed most of you guys off.
6.Create this thread.
If I'm missing anything, feel free to let me know.

I just finished telling you why this thread was a bad idea and how you shouldn't post it. I'm giving you a two day break.

Yeah, we haven't forgotten. Those events all occurred over the past month or so.

Just get the fuck out, please.

Pickle, don't bring attention over to your mistakes. Mainly, because we don't want to remember them. If you feel so bad or ashamed about them then just don't repeat them.

Also, add this thread to your list.

I think I'm gonna take a two day break too. Or longer. Whatever

Oh dear. And I was just about to tell Blob about the horse thread like he wanted me to. Oh well, that's a story for another rainy day. We'll see how this turns out.

    My thoughts:

Pickle: Some people start off here on the wrong foot, and they end up irritating other people and making them angry. The main problem is that they tend to make bad threads and bad posts. But these people have eventually learned how to be contributing members of these forums. Mostly, they stop and ask themselves "is this a good post" before they post it. These people, some of whom I personally did not like at all at first, are now productive members of these forums, and I am glad that they are here. I won't make names, but they know who they are. Once you learn to make better posts, then people will like having you around.

A few highlights of the OB culture:

    - We prefer to use old threads instead of making new ones. If you're going to create a thread, use the forum search function and see if there is another one about it. This is forum etiquette. Please refer to the Smash Bros thread you made for reference.

    - Staying on topic: We at the OB pride ourselves on our ability to quickly, yet logically, detour off tangent onto side conversations, often about SCIENCE. Mario's sig about presidential inauguration and planetary accretion is a testament to this. The only place to stay on topic is Mario's Zelda threads, because those threads are for Zelda.

    - Be yourself. You don't need to lie or make up stories to try and impress everyone. Just be yourself. This is good advice in both the real world and on the internet.

    - Post responsibly. As I mentioned before, before you post, take a moment to think "is this a good post? Am I contributing to the conversation?"

Once you come back, please take these points into consideration. Once you become a more contributive member of the community, you'll find that everyone is really nice and fun here.

    And that's all I got.

I really don't know if this refers to me or not... I am aware that I was slightly obnoxious in the past, but I'm not sure if I crossed any lines when I was. Hell, you're all just as obnoxious as I was then in your own, slightly more adult ways. Like Bruce's strange and frightening obsession with sexual innuendo, or someone-who-I'm-too-lazy-to-remember-or-look-up's frequent 'fix'd'-ing of others posts. Hell, the admin's and mod's frequently post in locked
threads just because they're not supposed to be posted in.

I guess my point is that you can be irritating and obnoxious as long as you're irritating and obnoxious in ways that are acceptable when you're 25.

Thanks for the advice Serephel. I'm back people and better than ever. So what happened while I was banned?

I won a noble peace prize.

I'm surprised none of the ladies on OB missed me. I'm just joking.:D

    I bet they were.

I don't remember any of us expressing any kind of wish along those lines.

Frankly, Pickle, you're like an annoying and much younger brother trying to hang out with the cool big kids. You don't bother me too much, but that's partly because I already have one of those, and I'm used to him.

Try this. If you're nervous about posting something, if you think for a minute, "Wait, I bet this will bother the cool big kids," then don't post it.

Eventually (I hope) you'll get the hang of it.

I think you sort of missed the whole 'banned' thing, he's not our problem anymore.

The younger annoying brother might just be it. I have a younger high functioning autistic brother who used to be annoying as FUCK, and pickle came nowhere near that level of annoyance. No one could over the internet. Maybe that's why I didn't really have a problem.

My brother also got better as he got older, so in a few years pickle may indeed be a respectable forum member. Just not with that username :D

Yeah, I noticed the ban after I posted here. Kind of a shame, really. I don't think Pickle was hopeless, just too slow about fixing his ways.

That said, I support the ban. I come here for fun.
