We didn't do anything this July 4th besides preparing a big 200lb mushroom anchor for deployment (which we finished today, so we can finally put our boat in the water). But a couple days ago my dad took me, my brother, and my brother's girlfriend up to the roof of the 13-story power plant he works at and we drank sodas and watched several fireworks shows and a thunderstorm all at once. Then he took us downstairs and showed us around the place. It was pretty awesome.

That picture is awesome. I went out with my family Friday night to see one of the best fireworks displays in the nation (which was actually a little bit disappointing this year- I'm betting they cut back a lot on the usual budget), and Saturday morning I took a mini road trip to spend the day with the boyfriend. Very fun! On the way in we combined moneys and bought about $100 on fireworks and found a shooting range his cousin goes to to blow them all up. Perfect place for it, and it was really fun.

After we had blown up just about everything we had, we went back and drank!! I was sufficiently drunk by the time we all went to sleep, yet was reminded to drink water before I went to sleep so no hangover.

Awesome. 4th of July = win. It was also my kitty's birthday and I kinda missed it :( but ohhhh well. I don't think she'll hold a grudge against me.

Strangely enough the 15th biggest (I think) fireworks show in the US is here in Idaho Falls, a town of probably 80,000 or so by now.

(17th best, not sure about biggest though.)

I worked for 14 hours on the fourth!

hahaha awwwww poor Bush. He looks so sad!

When he moved somewhere close to Dallas there were stories about how his new home kept being harassed by anti-war people, led by a woman whose son had died in the war. I really did feel bad for him. He's not in office anymore, he has no power left... I say leave the poor guy alone.

America's birthday comes again! Time for an inspirational speech from our president, Thomas J. Whitmore:

So arbitrary national entity gets a birthday thread but not me?

    America über alles.

    ;_;
  • edited July 2011
I didn't get a birthday thread the past year or two either.
  • edited July 2011
To be fair, this thread's reused from two years ago. America didn't get a new thread the last two years either.
  • edited July 2011
Call me sovereign entity-ist, but those damn sovereign entities don't have feelings like we do!
  • edited July 2011
That's why America didn't cry about not getting a new thread the past couple years.

A year ago today I believe I was in Japan. Time sure flies.
