Demon's Souls

New super cool game for the PS3, and it's exclusive (good for them!) Sadly for Sony it's a fairly niche game.

Basically is a JRPG, except with real time combat (which is extremely well executed) and a more DnD/Oblivion type stat system.

The story and music are awful, the enemy sounds are fairly bad, but as I said earlier, the combat is GREAT, and luckily for older gamers the difficulty ranges from hard to ungodly difficult. If you don't know what you're doing or if you're not being careful the weakest enemies will murder you.

Online aspects in this game pwn too. Basically you can leave messages for other players to read and aid in their strategy, and when you die you leave a bloodstain, which shows other players how you died and what you did just a bit earlier. Also, if you are very, very close to where another player is on his game, his phantom appears, and you can ask (with certain items) to join his game and help him, or you can invade his game and try to kill him. Once you beat the game you can also ask for duels.

In other words, this game pwns and everyone with a PS3 should get it.

I knowwwww.... I saw this a week ago and was pissed because I've already bought (but not yet received, long, stupid story) Brutal Legend. But man, Demon Souls is the next game on my list, I think.

My roommates have been playing the game nonstop. I haven't played it yet because I've been playing Brutal Legend. (Which is awesome btw.) Looks really brutal with such a harsh penalty for dying. It took them both a looong time to get past the first level. It seems fun though if you like RPGS.

I killed the dragon you encounter in the first two levels (I haven't even beaton the second one yet), you're not really meant to, but you can. It was awesome.

Now you're talking like a really man.

This sounds cool though. I still haven't acquired a PS3, but this could be a nice incentive. Sadly, Sony lost the rights to Star Ocean, and the 360 now holds a small piece of my soul...

So. My boss's supplier apparently never sent my copy of Brutal Legend. So I got him to just pay me in money instead of the game.

And so, I decided to forego Brutal Legend (for now) and buy Demon's Souls! I have some papers to grade first, but I will be diving into this headfirst tonight. I'm SOO BLOODY EXCITED. Graeme (sp?), is there anything you can do with people on your friends list? You should add me anyway. My online ID is the same as my screenname here.

*sniff* Mmmm.... new video game instruction manual smell.... *sniff*

    You got my name right.

You can play with people... just not specific ones, you are only shown random messages, because if you were shown all your PS3 would explode. Basically, even if we were in the same spot and I offered to be summoned, it's very unlikely you'll be able to.

By the way, I just let myself be summoned so I could help a random guy kill the second boss. I killed it by putting a shield on my attack arm and bashing and stabbing it til it died. The other guy didn't actually get a chance to hit the bosses weak point...

Are you talking about the dragon in Boletaria Palace? The active one or the one lying down? And how the crap did you get past all that fire? Is there a fire-blocking shield you get later on?

If you get the active one to start flaming the bridge you can run back and pick up some of the items before he gets back (look out for the other dragon's tail)

So, anyone still playing this? I just barely got through my first runthrough after totally butchering my game. Nearly every single merchant NPC in the Nexus was dead (killed by Yurt, that bitch) and the only spell/miracle I had was Heal. So the False King was a BITCH, I had to cheat a bit to beat him. But now I know MUCH more about the game and am ready to start on New Game+.

Eh, I sorta lost motivation very early in. I will much more in a week or so though, once this trimester is over. English takes a lot of time man.
