That's very much like what I do for my job.

Then you should totally get your boss to hire me for 10/20/30 weeks so I can get this darn college thing over with.

Technically I'm outsourced labor and am basically self employed...Honestly I'm not sure how that'd all work and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't recommend it.

Finding a job is hard :(

I found out right before the semester ended that my job couldn't keep me over the summer and that'd they'd rehire me when the Fall semester started up again, and I was like SHIT. Thank god they have internships at the university, I was able to apply for a new one just over the summer. My roommate is having a hard time trying to find a full-time job right now too, and we're just lowly undergrads set to graduate in a few years.

I'm hoping it's not as difficult to find a job by the time I graduate D:

I applied for only one job my last semester of college. I got it. It was waiting for me after I graduated.

A company wants to hire me after I graduate. But first I have to get the job(s) needed to graduate in the first place...

Wow, that's kinda crappy as a situation.

Summer? Is that like when you work like you do for the rest of the year but it's hot outside?

Regarding the realization that the forum is full of youngsters: many of us are older than Shawn was, back when Shawn was old (23). But seriously, that guy's like a thousand.

Yeah, I told them they could just hire me like normal and simply fill out the co-op forms every ten weeks, and they were totally into it, but a few weeks later the recruiter called me back and said they "didn't have the resources at the time" to hire me as a co-op. Apparently it takes a lot of resources to fill out a piece of paper three times over the course of a year.

What is he, like, 40 now?

Bureaucracy at its finest. They probably have a hiring freeze on co-ops or some stupid thing like that.

Wait we were all calling him old and he was only 23?

But seriously... you guys are all ancient.

If he's 40 now, then you all were here 17 years ago, in 1993, thinking he was old.

    MATH IS HARD

    Especially when we're this ancient.

So I went to that concert last night for Imogen Heap... good god it was AMAZING. I enjoyed it thoroughly, even though I'm exhausted from the 6 hour round trip it involved in the middle of a busy work week. Definitely worth it, I had a blast.

Does anyone else here like Imogen Heap? I'm thinking she might be a bit too artsy for a bunch of you :)

I have a handful of songs from her on my iPod that I listen to from now and again. Must have been fun to see her in concert!

Does Imogen Heap talk about Satan and blaspheming God and being evil?

If not.... not my cup of tea.

I liked I Megaphone, before her voice became super-produced. Her brief foray as Frou Frou was also enjoyable.

I mean, uh, I have no idea to which singer/songwriter you refer!

You'd like her live then. It's all her voice, then she loops a lot of parts-- the only pre-recorded music she used in any of her songs were a few ridiculous beats started from a computer on stage. Those were only for a few songs though-- most of her songs were all produced on stage by her and her band, and it was incredibly impressive how fast they were able to build up each layer of the song to start the first verse. It was also just need to hear all of the layers, heh.

Another cool thing about Imogen Heap live-- she said that every live show she performs, she has a segment where she improvises. The audience gets to pick what key, major or minor, what time signature (out of 4/4, 3/4, or 6/8-- someone yelled out 5/4 really loudly and I giggled a whole lot), and then how many beats per minute. That was really cool, although I was super disappointed with what the audience picked for her.

Her voice sounds incredible live; I was worried that I was going to find out her voice really isn't that great without technology warping it behind her, but there were quite a few times in concert where I said "wow" out loud because of her music.
