Network issues

edited July 2010 in Tech
So, I need to put in a wireless networking card to my computer so that when I want to get online I don't need to borrow the olds' laptop.

I can put it in fine, it recognises and connects to the network.

Just one problem, if the soundcard activates for any reason, the computer crashes.

Would I be right in assuming that's a power supply situation? Or is there anything else I can try? Because if I get a new power supply somebody else will have to put that in. I can only do so much confidently with hardware.

    Sounds like a driver conflict.

If it was a power supply issue wouldn't the computer just turn off instead of crashing?

I'd have to agree with Night Lord, my first reaction was "Driver issue"

Update: Yeah, sounds like a valid concern. Looks like the last time the driver was updated, was before XP was even made.

I'll see if I can salvage one from one of the other computers. Failing that, it seems like I can buy a new one for virtually nothing.
