Garth Marenghi's Dark Place

edited September 2010 in Movies and Shows
In the 1980s, famous horror author Garth Marenghi was commissioned to write a TV Series for Channel 4.

The aim of the project was, explicity "to change the evolutionary course of Man over a series of half-hour episodes."

It however, scared the Channel 4 powers that be too much and it was cancelled before it could be broadcast.

However, in 2004, during a entertainment drought, it was decided to broadcast the show.

It follows the adventures of a team of doctors in DarkPlace Hospital, built over the very gates of hell.

The 2004 release also features commentary by the principal cast. It's a wonderful show, think of it as a British House with SciFi elements.

So is it just a collection of produced-but-not-aired episodes made in the 80s? How any episodes are there?

It was made a few years ago in the style of 80's dodginess. I only saw one of the episodes, but it was pretty awesome.

In a similar vein to the Mighty Boosh for randomness, and in fact shares a few cast members of that show. Also Richard Ayoade from The IT Crowd is in it.

I've seen an episode or two. I think there's only six. Anyways, it's amazing and I need to find the rest of the episodes.

To be clear: it's not a real 80s show. It's a show about a fictional show from the 80s, with fictional commentary from the modern-day cast members recounting their experiences. And it is AMAZING. Here's a complete episode! Featuring Stephen Merchant as the chef!
