Meatloaf!

edited July 18 in Food and Recipes
I'm making Meatloaf on Friday, American Style emot-911.gif

Thing is, I dunno what you yanks serve with your meatloaf. With Belgian meatloaf, you have Cauliflower Cheese (The worst foodstuff ever, I think you will agree).

Therefore, someone tell me what will go well with it? I'll be your best friend...

Use the meatloaf juices as the base for a beef/chicken stock gravy and serve with mashed potatoes and generic veg.

Also: Pork mince makes better meatloaf than beef. True story.

Definitely mashed potatoes, just kind of mash the meat loaf into the potatoes on the plate with a bit of ketchup, oh man, fuckin' awesome.

What they said. That's probably the best part of meatloaf-- the mashed potatoes.

    So delicious!!

Mashed potatoes with gravy from the 'loaf is almost better than the meatloaf itself, but since you need meatloaf to do that in the first place you might as well have them both.

As far as side dishes go, I love sauteed bell peppers with my meatloaf. But not in the meatloaf itself, they just make the entire loaf taste like the pepper. You can't go wrong asparagus either.

Made with a mix of beef/pork mince, and sautéed onions and garlic, with an egg/milk/breadcrumb binder as well as bacon on top.

Served with Roast Potatoes and broccoli with a gravy from the juices. Great success! Went down a treat :D

I would suggest the addition of more bacon and possibly some veg to the mix.

I dice bacon into the mix, as well as the bacon on top for helping to keep it moist. Also diced onion and a layer of mushrooms in the middle.
