The Forum Decides: What TV Show Episode Should I Watch?

edited March 2012 in Movies and Shows
On this week's The Forum Decides: what episode of what TV show should I watch?

The sky's the limit, folks. If you've got a favorite episode of some show that you think is essential viewing, or you wish to inflict some horror-terror of television programming on my unsuspecting self, now is the time to say so.

I guarantee that I will watch the episode that gets recommended by the most people, so feel free to team up to rock the vote. In the event of a tie, Jakey's vote counts for double (I don't make the rules, that's just how it works).

Have at it!

Community: Season 2, episode 6: Epiedemiology

Grapes of Wrath from Black Books (Though watch the whole series, it's good)

Friendship is Magic. Season 2, episodes 1 and 2 (two-parter)

Only one episode for this poll. But who knows, maybe I'll fall in love with your silly pony show and want to watch part 2!

Black Books is an amazing show! But this thread doesn't preclude watching something I've already seen, so I'm certainly up for that if it wins.

I saw the first few episodes of Community and thought it was pretty okay! So maybe I'll KEEP THINKING SO IF I SEE MORE perhaps?

I hardly watch TV so I'm not qualified to suggest any horror-terrors of television programming. I guess I'll go with DustinTheWind with the ponies. The Grim Reaper likes ponies so they must be good?

If it was originally aired as one long episode, does that count? That particular episode was quite good.

Or do what I do and rewatch the entirety of Scrubs (Not season 9. Doesn't exist)
  • edited February 2012
Season 9 wasn't bad. It just wasn't Scrubs.
  • edited February 2012
The entirety of Scrubs isn't one episode. Also you already cast your vote, unless you're changing from the Black Books episode.

I just verified that those two My Little Pony episodes (assuming you're talking about The Return of Harmony Parts 1 and 2) aired on different dates. Not trying to be difficult, but I don't want to start down some slippery slope where someone tries to argue that an entire season/series is a single story arc and needs to be watched together.

That said, My Little Pony is winning with two votes so far. I'll leave the discussion going until Friday at 12:00am, should give others the chance to have their say. My current plan is to watch the winning episode Friday night! I'll probably live-tweet it (@mpanighetti) and live-make posts on the forum.

    Vote or die!

Oh, sorry. I coulda sworn. Ah well, my vote remains for the first part of the two then.

This is not the direction I was expecting this experiment to go. But really I should have expected nothing less. :p

Quiet you. I COULD have looked up some 80's era MLP or something. You're probably getting off quite easy.

ETA: It could be soooo much worse.

All of Supernatural, it's one continuous story arc. I think it should count. Nah, I can't really think of any one episode of something, so i'll vote for Black Books.

My sister used to watch the My Little Pony movie on an endless loop. Which means I did too. >__< Might even still remember some of the songs...

Don't worry, there are no songs in the episodes in question. But there is John de Lancie (Q from Star Trek) playing a character who is, essentially, Q from Star Trek.

"Don't worry"? This new series has some great songs!

Huh. Y'know I never thought there would ever be a disease that turns grown men into little girls that spreads via the internet, but here we are.
  • edited February 2012
Eh, given the sorts of things I tend to draw, I don't think I ever would have counted as one of those anyway.

What is the purpose of the TV episode? Is this supposed to be a standalone episode to watch just for fun before moving on, or is it supposed to be an accurate representative of an entire series to convince you to watch? My suggestion might change depending on what it is.

I let the voters decide why they're voting. My purpose behind this thread was to create something interactive as a community-building exercise, with the incentive being the potential for you to effect a nominal level of mind control on another human over the Internet (something we all want on some level).

My hope is to do more activities like these in the future, but I invite all of you to try something similar if you come up with a fun thing for the Forum to Decide. It's generating fun discussion, and you're forcing me to watch a cartoon made for little girls, so really everyone wins.

Last day of voting! Last chance to save me from the ponies! I'll watch the winning episode tomorrow at 6PM PST, and will be posting on the forum and live-tweeting about my experiences. Especially if they're horrible experiences.

Oh, cease your struggling, Mario. We all know what's going to happen here. You will watch the episode, you will be enthralled, and you will join the herd. Resistance is futile. You are going to love them.

Unless of course you meet the whole thing with a palate of apathy. I suppose that's a viable outcome...

I always keep an open mind, and I can appreciate a show for its own merits. But I have no expectation that I will be drawn into a show that isn't made for my demographic.

    Pony show it is!

Meh. I already watched the ponies. I had to. There were references to it. ON THE INTERNET. There really wasn't a choice in the matter. Watch the ponies and comprehend the references.

Watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, specifically the last episode of season 4, "The Nightman Cometh"

You... you're a little late. But keep coming back to the forum, I'll do another The Forum Decides in the near future! Or maybe someone else will OOOooOOOoOOOOOOOOI don't know why I'm making ghost noises right now.

Also that episode is THE SHIT. I mean THE ABSOLUTE SHIT. Not only have I seen it, I actually went to see a live performance with Geoff a few years ago! So yeah, pretty big fan.
