Ya know, I never really considered it that anime-ish at all. It looks plenty Western to me, sort of makes me think back to the Disney movies that leaned toward the more realistic side of things, like the Black Cauldron and so forth. All those characters always had those big black doe-ish eyes. I don't see the over-exaggerated eyes or body construction that is so common in anime. Although, I'm not sure, maybe Maha has gams that go on for miles.

Of course, this is just my point of view, My would be better suited to respond to that. I know she's influenced by all sorts of different animation styles, the girl loves the animation.

Yeah, it's not purely going to be a gag comic at all, we're trying to tell a story with this. My thinks up the grandiose ideas and overall plot direction, and does the art, while I flesh out all the details, construct individual story arcs and write the scripts. I think we compliment each other rather nicely in that regard. I've never considered myself to be very good with long stories on my own.

As long as it's good. Those stick figures you do are pretty bad ass. Executed properly that'd make a fine comic. That being beside the point, I'm sure you and MY will do a fabulous job. As a personal favor if you run out of ideas don't have shit start happening in space for no reason. I hate it when stuff happens in space for no reason.

What about wacky time-travel plotlines and long-lost twins?

I am so going to write a space opera chapter now, just for you Marcus.

I think that I think it looks anime because of the style of conveying emotions in that dialogue-less comic. I mean, her nose disappears when she blushes! It's more in the emotions than the characters that made me say that.

I was trying to emulate the real-ness of early 60s disney style with the simplicity of some kinds of anime of today. After all, it's probably going to change a little bit. Sorry if it looks TOO manga-ish :(

Anyway, as for the comedy part of it, it's not going to be so much jokes and situational humour. Things you'd laugh at in real life. It is generally a serious story, but of course there will be bits to laugh at in there.

    wtf are "gams"??

yyyeah I'm still trying to keep away from that, but think of it, can you really convey that emotion that well, in any other way? I'm aiming for something people can pick up immediately and not have to think too much about simple things like that, while they read.

Draw a toaster fighting a racoon. That would be pretty kick ass.

OMG, my money's so on the Brave Little Toaster.

"Gams" means "legs". It's a 1940's American expression.

    That is SO kickass.

    ZOMG!

There are no words capable of expressing my thanks and adoration for you!

Damn skippy, that is a badass raccoon. I think Toaster Boy can take him tho.

I have a strange desire to make an oldschool snes style RPG and put a toaster character in it. But then I have a long standing desire to make an old-school RPG. Recently renewed.

I'm going to school to learn the game-makin' ways. I've already made some neat java applets at my previous school. I'm also in a club that is aiming to make a game. But aside from me, my friend, and the leader-head-type guy, nobody else even really knows how to progam. We may get something going though.

Go for it. That's what I wanna do for a living. Preparations are already underway: My username is the same as the name of my future company. BLAMMO! Instant name recognition!

Gonna be the suit at the top are ya? They don't usually actually get to make the games themselves though. I'm not aiming to make a living off games personally. I just want to try to make a game or two. If I can get a job making them great, but I'm not counting on it. I'm not even sure I would enjoy it. I hear tell it's a harsh market and not so awesome as one might think.

I dunno. I'll probably do it in my spare time. And sell them if they're any good. Maybe run an arcade as a day job.

    UPDATE:
I have constructed the comic archives! They hold together pretty well, and I am becoming more confident with my ability to mess with the css and php that power the site (although I still am not very good with it).

Check it out here, using three pages of the cruddy pixel comic I made when I was 17. I didn't have much else I could think of to use.

I don't know how to respond when people generalize my art style as "anime-style." For one, there are so many types of drawing styles from Japan that it's not really a catch-all phrase. Plus, I'm not trying to emulate any style anyway... my art is my own.
