Dude...I totally played that game off a floppy disk (of the 5.25 inch variety) on a 286 back in the day.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure I've gotten to the technodrome without cheating. Like, it's a boss that you fight at some point and then you go into it. I got that far for reals. And now I kinda want to play the game again. Darn it.
Protip: You can pass boomerangs to other turtles by throwing them and switching turtles and catching them with the other turtle.
New episode! Two Re Brograms in a row, but it's because there's a big episode coming up that I wasn't able to finish this week. Expect it on Labor Day!
I totally missed the Battletoads one before, but I watched it now. I'll watch the next shortly.
Two player battletoads is super hard, but I have made it at least to stage 9 solo on an actual NES (no cheats) and WAS able beat it with infinite lives FYI. I think stage 11 was the shittiest one. Christ I just couldn't figure out how to do that one well at all. I swear I almost ran out of my infinite lives to beat that one.
I also know where the warps are on levels 1, 3, and 6 that can skip stages 2, 4, and 7 respectively and those help a lot, but I have individually beat each level up through 8, but not straight through because holy crap.
I kinda disagree on reject because I still kinda love playing the game. It was fun watching though even if you were kinda failing at it. I think everyone does in multiplayer. If anything this is making me feel a bit weird as it's only now occurring to me I may have an unusually good record when it comes to some popular but really difficult old NES games. I mean at points in my life I was able to beat Blaster Master, Punch Out!, and Yo Noid!, and possibly Mega Man all of which I've seen on "top hardest NES game" lists so...I guess I played too many NES games in my life or something?
ETA: Ok, I'm one of those guys who never heard of Jackal, but it looks decent for one person and bonus fun for two. I'm liking these ReBrogram After Hours Tag Team Combo Force Pack Playtime Half Hour shows whatever you feel like calling them. They don't really show off an entire game but it's fun for a more casual play of a game.
Like I said in the episode, I went with reject for Battletoads because I didn't feel like playing it anymore, and a remake would most likely be an easier version, which kind of takes away from the magic of the game.
It's a good game, it's just too brutal for me to enjoy without a good 3 months or so in between playthroughs.
I think he was leaning back from the mic. Either that or I was being too loud. All three of these episodes were filmed on the same day, and I had issues with figuring out the sound levels. I didn't even get sound from the gameplay outside of the mic pickup from the TV.
Oh yeah. I had watched this. I got a good laugh from the "critical strut" comment. Maybe "Critical Stride" would have fit just a bit better and sound less like a suspiciously important beam on a bridge or something.
Actually I'll have to remember that. I was once imagining how one might alter a jrpg type combat/stats/levels system to make it apply to social situations like a fancy dinner party or a ballroom dance rather than an actual battle. No...they aren't fights! They're "social engagements".

From now until I have a nervous breakdown from stress, I'm doing a video a week. I'll be rotating Re Program/Re Brogram episodes. Enjoy!
EDIT: Doesn't seem to like embedding. Enjoy the link, then!
I'm now going to watch all of the others. Awesome stuff.
Glad you like it!

So, so brutal.

Hopefully this episode was worth it. I had a lot of fun making it.
Good stuff as usual. Excellent work with the Mythbusters reference.
Around the 9 minute mark.
New episode! I'm joined by my buddy Nick this time.

I did an entire episode about a summon spell from Final Fantasy 7!
Remember kids, pipe-on-pipe always works.
It's HALLOWEEEEEEEEEEN! Enjoy a special episode FOOLISH MORTALS!
But seriously, hope you like it.
