Code Academy, better than Police Academy
For work, I am teaching myself python, essentially to make my job easier by allowing automation of common tasks.
An excellent resource I've found if you want to pick up a number of different languages (Python, PHP, Ruby, et al.) is Code Academy which has exercises for the above mentioned languages (plus more esoteric ones).
What's really cool is that it provides an on-screen interpreter for your commands, so you can learn it all in a totally self-contained environment.
So, yeah, give it a try, I think it's quite nifty!
