It's snowing!

At least in Pittsburgh.

Did I make you look out the window?

I'm really excited. Haven't had snow in 7 years. I've been in Florida for too long.

It snowed a little a couple times here already. At least once before Halloween. It's certainly cold enough to snow today. But yeah, no snow for 7 years would seem to get a little dull for weather.

Also, I'm pretty sure we had a thread about snow somewhere already, but ok.

It's snowing here too. But it snows every year. I still like seeing it though.

We had a little dusting... enough to cover the roofs for an hour or two. Supposed to warm back up going into the weekend, though.

Oh man, this is the first time I had to salt my walkways. Like, I never lived in a house before where I was the one responsible for salting. Mad grown up times, yo.

Eh, it's starting to get kind of cold here. I had to actually wear a jacket last night! Thankfully its warming up to the 80s this weekend!

Jacket weather is the best weather.

And some days it's so blasted cold that it's even too cold for the snow. Like now. I blame Canada.

My brother's house literally was frozen on the inside. There was frost on the doors, and the toilet was frozen and everything. The furnace went out and he hadn't checked it out in a while since he doesn't live there quite yet (still renovating until it's in living order). It was quite the sight to see.

Meeting up at a convention is a frequent not-terrible idea we keep coming up with, but relative locations and travel makes it difficult. Someone should map all our locations and find an optimal central meeting place somewhere in the midwest.
  • edited January 2014
    Let me suggest:

Optimal meeting place would be at an airport hub. Atlanta or... Dallas? Is Dallas a hub?
  • edited January 2014
DFW is definitely a hub! Also my hometown. I know every year in June there's a big convention called A-Kon (not the artist) in downtown Dallas. I think it's a typical anime con, and it gets a pretty big turnout most years! I'd certainly be down, but I am completely biased.

Yeah we bet you'd be down.

Anyway, I'm fuck-ass broke and I'm cuddlier online.

The snow was almost gone. ALMOST. And now it seems to insist on returning. The weather had been getting so nice and now it's ruined!
  • Apparently a foot of snow was vitally important for today. I think the universe is telling me to not leave the house today.
  • I'm trying to make the best of what will probably be the last few nice days of the year. Just took a long walk through the neighborhood even though it's late at night on a worknight.
  • Not snowing here yet, but it is hellishly cold in my dorm.
  • It snowed on the drive home tonight! And the driver in front of me immediately switched to "drive 40 in a 50mph zone because I saw a couple snowflakes, even though the road is too warm for any of it to stick" mode.
  • I can't comprehend people being like that. Here you'll see people going 65 in a 55 when the roads are glare ice...then you see them again in the ditch, but that's sorta how it goes I guess.
  • California drivers have this same problem in the rain. Those first tiny drops are a sure sign of pileups later in the day.
  • One that I absolutely couldn't understand last winter was when the road was covered in snow and the person in front of me decided to hit the brakes on their way up a hill. I drive a rear-wheel-drive vehicle, so if I can't keep my momentum up I lose traction and begin fishtailing. I nearly slammed into this person because I was trying to keep moving fast enough to avoid sliding back down the way I came.
  • Yeah but you know what region has the worst drivers? My local region. Am I right?
  • My local region, except for the immediate area that is my own car. The drivers there are immaculate.
  • The sheer odds that everyone in the world except me would be a horrible driver are astronomical. Yet, it is the truth.
  • Pre-Thanksgiving nor'easter right now and I'm loving it. Mostly because it essentially gives me a five day weekend. (Today is 'work from home', but that's still preferable to actually going anywhere)
  • Not much snow here, but it is kinda cold.
