Jake's in the hospital
I realize that this forum is by no means the best way to get ahold of each other these days, but in case you don't keep in touch via Facebook, I wanted to pass this on (thanks to Morgan for the heads-up):
"Friday evening Jacob suffered a massive stroke. He is in the Neuro ICU at *redacted*. He is on a ventilator but is in stable condition. They are hoping to remove the vent today. The has right sided weakness/ paralysis and slurred speech but we are praying for much improvement after the brain swelling goes down. He is completely coherent. He know us his surroundings. He. As been able to communicate with by sign an communication boards. - Jake's mom"
It sounds like he's doing well, all told, but please keep Jake in your thoughts, and connect with him on Facebook to keep tabs on his status. We're all rooting for you, Professor.

Viewing Jake's profile requires an account (free, or log in with Facebook/Google), but might be an easier avenue for some folks to pass on their support. The first post there includes visitor info if you're in the area and you'd like to stop by (leaving off of this thread for privacy).
Currently, his tracheotomy surgery has been 100% successful.
