John Filleau sends his regards!
Hello everyone! I got a letter today from John's sister, letting me know that John is actually doing this Air Force thing, and to pass on to you his address:
<ADMIN EDIT: removed personal info>
She notes that he can only recieve letters. DO NOT send packages or else he'll be savagely beaten.
I intend to send him a letter; I hope some of you will as well!

Also, isn't an airman the second lowest rank in the airforce? I think I read that somewhere.
But regardless, apologies for any offence caused.
Thanks for your service!! {salutes}
The first four ranks, Airman Basic, Airman, Airman First Class and Senior Airman are all usually just referred to as Airman. After that comes Staff Sergeants and Technical Sergeants, which (if you are at a comparable rank with them) can just be called Sergeants. The top three enlisted ranks are Master Sergeant, Senior Master Sergeant and Chief Master Sergeant. If you know the first two personally, Sergeant is fine, otherwise you better use the whole term. Chief Master Sergeants are called Chief <insert last name here>
Above that (on the chain of command, not necessarily in power wielded if that makes any sense) are the officers which go from Second Lieutenant to First Lieutenant to Captain to Major to Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel to Brigadier General to Major General to Lieutenant General to General. The Air Force doesn't have a super cool officer rank above general like the army does, so forget about it.
To sum it up, of course I'm the lowest rank, I just joined. In 22 weeks after completing technical training school at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi I'll be promoted to an Airman First Class, which will be awesome pay-wise. After that the sky's the limit.
Hoorah!
Although if you're in the Air Force, the sky ceases to be the limit, doesn't it?
Speaking of which: Fish, if you learn of any Stargate-ness in the AF, let us know... ok?
Well, I'm now at Keesler Air Force Base in beautiful Bulloxi Mississippi for Technical Training School. On the bus ride in we saw the damage done by Katrina. Almost a year later and it's still not all cleaned up. The base here used to have a huge Commisary and Base Exchange Mini Mall, lots of housing, fun stuff to do, not to mention the surrounding community and New Orleans (which was only an hour away). So now we don't have much fun stuff to do. I'll try to get my hands on a cheap laptop soon and a wireless broadband card so I can get on the computer at night in my dorm (right now I'm just using the library computer) so that'll be fun.
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Rock on?
