I encounter amusing surnames!

edited May 2006 in General
My job as a data entry technician is very boring, so I make lists of amusing last names on the insurance claims I look at all day. Here are some of them, because I am bored!

Fussnecker
Skoog
McNutly
Ploot <-- my favorite
Kuntz
Fishwild

    Wow.

There's actually someone out there named McNutly?

I feel bad for the poor bastard named "Kuntz"

    Those wacky Germans.

McNutly is the best. It sounds so made up.

i dunno, skoog and ploot are pretty made up sounding too

But McNutly sounds a lot like something you'd come across in a game of gunbound or counter strike or *insert online game of choice here*.

I feel bad for anyone with those names.

Oops, my bad, it's actually Neckfusser and not Fussnecker.

    But still.

    Hehe, "Ploot."

Fishwild is a downright badass name.

We have a Sgt. McNutly that I have to call to find out the day's cop stories here in Florida.

Also, I frequently proof the Accent pages, which have the engagements and wedding annoucements. There are often funny name combinations found in that page. I can't think of many right now, but one off the top of my head was King-Duke - a woman with the last name of "King" marrying a man with the last name of "Duke." The only thing going through my head was "You're supposed to marry up, not down!"

I am taking a class this quarter wherein the instruction goes by the name "Kuntz". It's really not so funny when pronounced properly (as in "Koontz"). My surname is kinda funny too, but not in an unfortunate way.

I have four Fs in my name altogether! So there!

Rockin' the letter F all over town.

Despite only being four letters, my last name is commonly fucked up by teachers, telemarketers, and just people in general. It's Gery (pronounced Gary), but I've gotten everything from Jerry, to Grey, to this weird Geary thing a few people have started calling me.

I've gotten Halvac, Halevac, Halayvic, Havlic, Layvic, and many more. It's really Hlavac, pronounced "Lavic".

Well if someone can beat the surname Buermann, pronounced as "Beer-man", they could have the honor of having a sillier surname than me.

    *references Duffman in some way*

Once when I was in college, I was invited to a class tour of a Lockheed facility in Pennsylvania. I received the day's schedule-- the tour was to be led by two Lockheed oldtimers named "Chik and Dick". Chik and Dick showed us Lockheed's "Assy Floor".
