Did anyone watch Strangers With Candy?

edited July 2006 in Movies and Shows
I actually did not see much of it after the pilot episode, but today I found this blog post about the inspiration for Jerri Blank's character: Florrie Fisher.

She's a speaker who cleaned up after years of drug abuse and related mishaps, and then went to schools to spread the Say No To Drugs message. By telling sordid and incoherent stories, and also making stuff up. You need to check out the last video on this page. Then you'll probably understand why I also think that Florrie Fisher was the inspiration for Chris Farley's "Van Down By The River" guy.

They play "Strangers With Candy" every now and then on comedy central, probably because of Stephen Colbert’s success.

Also b/c it originally aired on Comedy Central and still has a large fan base, plus has a full-length movie coming out this summer.

That was a great show indeed. Can't wait to see the movie.

EDIT: I didn't mean to derail the topic or anything, I just really like the show. Having actually looked at the link now, I'm impressed at how much they made Jerri Blank look like the actual inspiration. I may have to get the Strangers With Candy boxset now that I know it comes with The Trip Back PSA.

I saw one when Jerri was sucked into some cult. I've never seen much of the show, but I do remember the principal being a bad ass.

Ah yes, Principal Blackman. He was black, too. What a funny coincidence.
