Pvc pipe + Science! = Lightsabers

edited July 18 in For SCIENCE
I wasn't sure if this really qualified for the Science! forums, but I thought you folks might be interested in it anyway.

This is a movie I made at the beginning of last year for the film club at my school. Unfortunately, I suck at compressing and the quality sucks. Youtube also makes it freeze right before the text bits for some reason. I have no clue why, but google video does it too.

I made this using simple PVC pipe stuck in the $20 plastic lightsaber hilts you find at Toys'Rus. Then I went over each individual frame in photoshop and drew the blades in. Added sound and presto! Instant George Lucas.

Hmmm..Interesting....Well, I sure as hell can't do that graphic-wise, since i'm an idiot, and it looked pretty cool. Good job with it. I tend to stay away from films and student movies, I'm too much of a goofy looking idiot to be photographed or filmed. and I have shaky hands so I can't hold either very steady.

So what was up with that part where the one kid had both lightsabers? Did he just... give it back?

Funny how nobody in the background seemed to care at all what was going on. They just kept a-walkin'.

Well, the movie was supposed to just be a trailer. Meaning that none of the shots were really supposed to be in order. They were just a bunch of random shots put together since I didn't have time to choreograph an actual fight scene.

Neither of those kids are me btw, I'm not much of an actor.

Fun fact: Both kids got haircuts the day after we finished filming.
