I believe it. I think it may be a good idea, since it's recently become just every single company screaming at the top of its lungs "look at me!!!" at the show.
I mean, did you even try to keep up with E3 coverage? I tried, and if I fell behind by a day, I had about 40 posts to go through on joystiq.
As I recall, E3 was cracking down on the booth babes this year. I can't say I'm going to miss the severe over-hyping; maybe now companies will hold their own press conferences for their own game releases, and everything won't get lost in the immense static. Especially the smaller developers.
Basically, they are paring the show down and more strictly limiting who gets in. Which to me sounds like more industry and "real" media, and fewer bloggers and EB part-timers. And definitely no more cosplayers.
Whatever. I was never going to get to go anyway. I guess I'll just put that dream aside. And a new thing will pop up for the people left out by these developments. Could be PAX.
I've always hated the booth babes at E3. It's nothing but a cheap marketing trick to get people to look at your stuff. You want people to look at your games? Make them good. If I ever went to E3, it would be to see new games.
Geeks and nerds?! That doesn't sound like anything I wanna be a part of!
Ladies in skimpy sci-fi costumes? That sounds like everything I wanna be a part of! Are you sure they're in the same place as the geeks and nerds? That doesn't make any sense. Ladies in skimpy outfits should be hanging out with me... and to a lesser degree, football players and rappers. Not geeks, nerds, or any of their smelly brethren.

Seriously, I don't know what to make of that. They have some good pros and cons for it.
The site seems legit, but when I googled "E3 Cancelled" I didn't see much about it. So it might just be a Hoax
