style: manga or comic?

k folks, pay attention:
After reading this forum's threads, I've seen somewhat mixed emotions about whether the comic seems a little too manga-ish, or not.

As for me, I can change how I draw thankfully without any effort and can just as easily drop the anime-feel, for a more traditional style. Think, 1960s Disney. The only reason Sererre is NOW manga-ish, was because my original pictures about it were that way. I love both styles and to switch would be of no inconvenience to me, so keep that in mind :D

So ANYWAY, I want to take a little poll here:
Do you want Sererre's artistic style to be manga oriented, or more traditionally oriented?
And if this is gonna work, you have to be honest. As far as I know it's anonymous, if that means anything, so don't feel bad about voting for one or the other. In fact, to vote other than what you truely feel would kinda be insulting to me, so VOTE how you FEEL!! This isnt a US election here.

Thank you in advance! More arts to come afterward :)

The only reason I voted for traditional is that I would most like the style you use to be yours alone, and how you do that is up to you, My.

Aww, don't let the comments get to you. Keep the comic the way you've been drawing it; some people may have some complaints about Japanese-style artwork, but I say stick with your original intent. Use the style that you feel best matches the comic's storyline. And since we have no idea what the comic is about, we can't really tell you what works best. :p

not to sound mean, but this is kinda the answer I was hoping to prevent..
I said both were ok to me, so one or the other couldn't ever really seem better to me nor could comments "get to" me. I'm asking what your opinion is!:o What do you want to see?

besides, are you gonna just let "traditional" win then? ;)

Well I figured you had chosen the manga-ish style for a reason!

I pick manga style then, because the original preview images were what made me want to see the comic so bad. ^_^

I vote traditional. I have no idea why. Just because. I unfortunately have no preference. I'm in it for the story as much and more than the art.

Great, did I accidentally start something here?
Eh, I voted traditional, because it seems to have more variety between artists. And variety is the spice of life. And comics too, maybe?

As far as character designs go, I don't really mind either way, but I hate the cliches that anime/manga uses for showing emotion. As long as they don't start sweatdropping or losing their pupils and/or noses whenever they get embarrased/angry/etc then I'm fine with it.

I really like the art as-is, and I don't think it looks very manga style at all. It actually reminds me more of a style found in 70's children books.

It first reminded me (as I believe My said was her intention) of older Disney style art; like SLeeping Beauty or Sword in the Stone. It made me think the most of Black Cauldron.

I voted manga. I'm just going to assume that was the current style. The art looks great. Wonderful in fact. I highly anticipate the comic. My you're a wonderful artist, and even though I'd never tell him in person, Jeff's a great writer. When this thing finally hits the rest of us are going to be in awe and damn jealous.

I'm voting 'manga', because i think it's great the way it is. It has manga aspects to it, I suppose, but that doesn't matter because the art doesn't come off in a generic manga way. It's kind of a mix of multiple styles: 70's animation, 'manga', and something else, something more unique. It's great, keep it up. ^_^

I'm not saying anything new in being enormously pleased with the current art.

I voted traditional mainly because, if it for whatever reason had to shift, I'd rather keep away from manga, which seems unnecessarily restraining.

I think that continuing with the manga style would be best; based on what you said a while back about trying to keep the art style relatively simple.

The manga style has a simple array of symbols and stock expressions that everyone can quickly identify and which fit quite well over the art style you have been using so far.

I'd argue that the stock expressions are a reason to stay away from manga.

Could you post two seperate pictures of one character in one pose, one pictures manga style, one picture "traditional"? I'm not sure at all what this "traditional" means.
