Recommend Other Podcasts!

Here's a new podcast I've been watching for all of five minutes!

Ask A Ninja (video): sort of like Strong Bad E-mail, but with more ninja and less Strong Bad.

EDIT: This thread is now a general-purpose podcast-recommendation thread. Post any of your favorites that you might have come across, so we all have things to listen to while waiting for Jakey's contributions! I'll try to not post too many Mac-fan podcasts.

2006 Superbowl Commercials (video): I know, Superbowl commercials just aren't what they used to be. That said, this podcast has the whole lot of 'em from this latest Superbowl; you can give 'em a watch, then pick and choose the ones worth keeping. Like the MacGyver one, and... yeah.

    I didn't watch the Superbowl.

The Onion Radio News: Brief audio renditions of The Onion's consistenly-amusing parody articles. Good for a quick (usually sub-minute) laugh.

Tiki Bar TV! (Video): A video podcast made by sophisticated misfits in a bachelor pad. Learn a new "tiki" style cocktail each episode!

Pros: Hot girl, pseudo-SCIENCE! and alcohol!
Cons: Updates even less often than the Orange Belt Community Podcast!

Radio Free Burrito: Wil "I feel strange but also good" Wheaton does his bloggin' thang! You can read the blog proper over here (apparently he's "in exile" while his site's under construction; whenever that's over with, you'll probably be able to find him here instead).

Hey Mario, is there an xml for Ask A Ninja? I can't seem to subscribe to the iTunes feed with Thunderbird.
  • edited May 2006
I imagine the blog's FeedBurner RSS feed might do the trick.

    It worked, thanks Mario!

Ctrl+Alt+Chicken (video): A cooking show podcast by Alex Albrecht and some girl. The twist? They're tech geeks and know nothing about cooking!
  • edited May 2006
Those fools! All the best tech geeks know lots about cooking!

Seriously, they screw up chicken cordon bleu by simply not cooking it for long enough. Still, it's fun watching people bumble, especially when they get it right every now and then. I will say that the first segment of each show, which involves Albrecht dressed as a vaguely European scientist stating spurious factoids about the dish in question, is incredibly lame, but the rest is fun.

I'm not really getting what exactly a podcast is supposed to be. I thought at one point it was some kind of special audio file that could only be played on an iPod, but I can see and hear all of these podcasts right here on my PC. Could someone please explain?
  • edited May 2006
Well, firstly, iPods can play videos now as well.

Secondly, while most of these shows can be subscribed to via iTunes and downloaded onto one's iPod, it is not necessarily the case, and the term "podcast" has now become the term for any serial internet show, audio or video.

They didn't screw up the Cordon Bleu, because to screw something up, it has to be nice when done correctly. Chicken Cordon Bleu isn't. Its nasty.

It's muliple meats and cheese cooked together! That equals awesome in my book.

As much as I hate to say it, I'm with Night Lord on this one. It is pretty nasty. Of course, I'm a terrible person to ask, as I'm quite possibly the pickiest person you never realised you knew.

Ricky Gervais podcast. You may remember in early 2006 there was some Hoo-Hah because the audio version of this podcast switched to a paying system. However, the video podcast remains free, so enjoy peoples. (This is the xml of the podcast, so copy the link into iTunes)

PS: If you want the first season (Which is free and funny) Go here. Memorable moments include: "Cambodian Midget Fighting league", and "Monkey feels a right tit"

    Ah, I see. Thanks.

    I guess this counts:

    http://www.fireball20xl.com/wha-chow/

Wha-Chow. Of course, this Psyguy here, so most of it is immature and stupid. A few random moments are funny, though.

*GASP* Do you know who Psyguy is? To put it nicely, Mario isn't really his number 1 fan.

However, it just shows he hasn't stopped the juvenile humour which Mario scolded him for.

    Gah! My eyes! They burn!

Sorry to double post, but I wanted the bump to point out that I think it's quite interesting that we should be here talking about how Psy is still using the same immature humor mario flamed him for, and then Psy goes and links Zelda Comic on his website.

    Yep. Pretty interesting.

Wait, I don't have to double post. I can just post what was in the old one down here and then delete it.

I know. Psy's humor is still the same. 99% immature, but every once in a great while, he makes something funny.

In fact, now that I think about it, the only thing mario was wrong about in his article there was that Psy was just doing those jokes for votes. Psy's been off voting lists for a while (except GBS and GCD which are both dead) and he STILL does those jokes. He honestly thinks they are funny.

At least if Fireball20XL goes down, he can get a job as a writer for Family Guy. :D

I wasn't wrong when I wrote the article, back when he (and a lot of other people, myself included) were blatantly vote-whoring.
  • edited June 2006
Yeah, but from the way it was written, it sounds like you'd expect him to grow up once he got tired of dominating the top comic lists. Which he didn't.

I mean, here's TMS3, and he's still got Sonic as a homsexual out to pinch Knuckles' ass.

Okay, this is getting way off topic. Time to suggest podcasts that aren't from Psyguy!

Hope Is Emo (video): From the makers of Ask A Ninja comes a new show about someone talking into a camera responding to e-mails. Now it's about a high school goth chick!
  • edited June 2006
... Okay, so she's crying over the damn chalk dust? This is hilarious. And she even made an urn.

Now that's a good podcast. I can't seem to find anything other than the first episode. Is this that new that they only have one so far?
  • edited June 2006
She uses a mac. Thats all I noticed. That and her cleavage through the fishnet body stocking thingy.
  • edited June 2006
Yes, brand new. If you want them to make more episodes, maybe you should e-mail Hope some more advice.
  • edited June 2006
While Night Lords statement about boobies and macs goes ignored. :P

But seriously, I wouldn't know what to ask an emo girl, since I don't wanna make her cry.
  • edited June 2006
But that's the fun of it all!

I'm gonna tell her that she should get a PC and see what she says. :P
