sorry but is already taken. I'm not sure who it was that actually tried that though. Now that I think about it, I totally want to try it on other forums.
I strongly support prohibiting members to change their account's display names. It's fucking annoying as all hell to figure out who is who when everyone is always changing their names.
A name isn't like a password, which can be changed at will. A name is your unique identifier on the forum, changing it all the time means you have no identity, and by that logic, don't exist!
Do you think I wanted to be Professor MacJake? I stopped using the "McJake" nickname in real life years ago, but people on teh interwebz know me as that and I don't want to confuse people. You don't want to be a jerk and confuse people...do you?
Furthermore, I'll be damned before I let anyone show me up by changing their name whilst I remain static! Muahahaha, you'll be known as Agentcel FOREVER.
...unless, of course, you start a new account with a different name. But do you really want to be that guy? With like, 10 posts? I think not!

Oh yeah. I also fully support prohibiting members to have more than one account. Alts are just as confusing as name changes, only worse for newer people who don't know the forums well.

Just have a feature that goes unde your signature that says: "Previous names include:..." or in the person's profile.
Agreed. That, or go create a proboards forum where you can change it all you want without needing an administrator to do it for you.
