Have you considered a career overseas?

Because of this void in beneficial foresight, I decided to write a book that would assist anyone thinking of joining the Legion. Based on my own experiences, "Life in the French Foreign Legion: How To Join and What To Expect When You Get There" is a step-by-step chronological work that will guide you through the various phases of preparing for, joining, and living life in the Legion.

    Mr. Fille! Hello!
  • edited November 2006
Have you ever dreamed of leaving it all behind and running away to join the French Foreign Legion?

Nope, but thanks for asking. Bye-bye now.

Hey, you do not tell John to leave. He will leave when he is good and ready. then he'll post "hmmm..." in like...every thread.

Remember when he did that? Oh, the memories.

I don't think that John was the author of the article I was quoting, so therefore I was not telling John to leave. Hurray for logic!

Perhaps it hasn't been adjusted for inflation (evidenced by the fact that it is given in Francs and not Euros), but that pay rate sucks! 750 US Dollars a month? yeesh!

Don't forget however, according to the stereotype you're staged in deserts, and what can you buy in the desert?

John the Filleau sounds like spambot in this Thread.

It's like being a fisher up off of alaska, the pay is ok, but everything you need is taken care of for you and there's nothing to spend your money on.

MJC and Agentcel are right. I'm actually a spambot recruiting people into the French Foreign Legion?

It's an interesting topic that I'm sure not many people know about. I'd totally join if I wasn't already spoken for.

HA HA, you're the US govt's bitch. I'm wishing more and more that I had joined the armed forces after high-school. I would be so rich and freely educated by now. So, are you on leave or something, man? Did you get more computer privileges? How are you posting? How is the guns and aeroplanes? How is you? TELL US!

I'm on leave yes, I graduated technical training school. My first assignment is in Florida, where I'll have internet access in the dorms. I'm back I guess? Talk about the FFL more.

    MJC and Agentcel

That was General Salt who suspected you as a spambot jokingly. I simply said I didn't find it interesting.
  • edited November 2006
Yeah, and I simply said I don't want to join.

Why don't you? What job prospects do you have that are SUPERIOR to the French Foreign Legion?
  • edited November 2006
Joining the Legion is not a recommended pursuit for anyone.

So, yeah. I think I'll take that website's advice and stick to hoping I can make video games. Seriously, who wants to be in the French military anyway? What was the last war they ever won? What do I owe to France?

EDIT: That site offers tips for deserting. That is not a good sign in my eyes.

I see years of playing as the scrappy underdog in numerous RPGs has taught all of you NOTHING.

This is relevant to my interests!

Also, yeah... Klatchian Foreign Legion is so much better.

If ever had to join the armed forces, I'd pick the Belgian army, since we're neutral. No wars for me :D

My current job. Its benefits include:
    1. not needing to learn french
    2. not having to go to france
    3. getting to sleep in a warm bed every night
    4. not getting shot at/bombed/whatever else armies do in a war
    5. not needing tips on how to desert

Not needing to learn French?! What kind of horrific nightmare of a job is this!?

Is there a Russian Foreign Legion? I'd be all over that. Russian's a bad ass language, and if I knew it, I could read more of Sergei Lukyanenko.

Although I am curious as to what this mystery job of mjc's is.

A job that's much easier without the challenge of trying to learn and remember French.

Nothing exciting, but better than joining the French Legion as far as I'm concerned.

That's it MJC, aim for the stars. Honestly, it's like you put the pine in "spineless". That is to say

    Main Entry: 2pine
    Function: noun
: a dietary deficiency disease of sheep or cattle marked by anemia, malnutrition, and general debility; specifically : such a disease due to cobalt deficiency —compare MORTON MAINS DISEASE

Have your cushy job. I'll stick with my mortars and impending doom.

But you get brown leather coats with fluffy white lapels and flight goggles!

You totally beat mjc in that respect!
