Freewebs is somewhat uncool.
• edited December 2006
That was really constructive. Did you even go to his site, Blunderbore?

Agentcel, I really like the look of your new site. Is most of your site content going to be drawings, or do you have other things planned?
• edited December 2006
No, really. Freewebs is uncool. The maximum number of pages you can have on it as a free user is 7.

However, I think agentcel wanted some informed critique of his site, not just unecessary bashing of the host he uses.

And in that respect, Agentcel, the site looks good for a start up project. I especially like the name. ¡Viva la Darknut Rojo!

Not much to say so far. Nice ancient looking paper graphics, but not much content yet.

Informed critique: Freewebs is very limiting and (at least for me) if an update goes longer than 8-10 lines, it gets cut off.

EDIT: Thanks Hamelin.

I meant he wants critique of his site, not of his host, he probably already knows their limitations, and doesn't need people telling him.

Link!

I'm trying to create a site like this one, an oekaki, art gallery, forums...and maybe a comic. Just a gool ol' Zelda fansite.

I finally got a sample of some comicky sketches from my huge book! NOTE: Pencil=no show-up-good!

Cmd+Alt+Ctrl+8 makes it easier to read!
• edited December 2006
Silly Night Lord! There is no "Cmd" key.

It would be best if it were inked in some fashion, but failing that, a bit more contrast helps like so:

Still better than the rubric's cube PS3 commercial.
• edited December 2006
Any actual coments on the comic?
• edited December 2006
I got an oekaki on my Red Darknut site if anyone wants to check it out!
• edited December 2006
I did one! (Never draw with trackpads kids!)

But accidentally added it twice. Ugh >.<

I did. Your comment was about goofy commercials, and I commented that your creation still beats the PS3 commercials.
• edited December 2006
Ah.well, in that case, thank you. And go Night Lord!

EDIT: My site isn't getting as much traffic as I'd hoped. Anyone have advice on how to promote my site without paying money?

Viral Marketing!

Well, simply go to your school, and paint the address in huge letters on the roof, which can then be seen on google earth.

Go spam a bunch of forums.

Before you do that...

Seriously. Freewebs is uncool. Get a better host before working on advertisment.
• edited December 2006
Hey! I used to use Freewebs! They were okay. I still use my account there to host some pictures and files because my new host doesn't like downloads.
• edited December 2006
i use freewebs for hosting my images
• edited December 2006
That's all well and good, but should the site become rather popular from advertising, freewebs will probably close it down for a month due to running out of bandwidth. You know, like if someone with a huge fanbase like Maddox or Tim Buckley (I mention these names because I've seen it happen on both of their sites before, and can go back and find the actual pages if anyone wants), and everyone's trying to get in, and the bandwidth runs out in minutes, shutting down the site.

To recap, my point is that freewebs might be decent for hosting images, but if you're trying to get a popular site going, you'll eventually need to move on to something bigger and better before the bandwidth runs dry.
• edited December 2006
Yeah, I ran out of bandwidth on Freewebs once, but all they did was put ads up before all the pages. In the little account page you get to choose what happens when you run out of bandwidth: You can either take the page down completely, or put a bunch of ads everywhere.
• edited December 2006
Geocities is superior. And you can get rid of the ads on the right with this:
<body onLoad="function%20KG(){try{if(frames.length)if(PUprop){var%20FS=document.getElementsByTagName('frameset')[0];FS.cols='*,0,0';}}catch(e){}}KG();">
I don't understand how it works, but supposedly it gets rid of geocities ads. (Only works in IE and Firefox)

Tim Buckley is an asshat who has no idea how to operate in normal societal terms. The man, to put it simply, sucks at being a human being.

I predict any response to this post resulting in Proffesor MacJake telling me that "That's what he wants you to say! Don't give in!"

You know, on your new fansite, the oekaki doesn't work on the wii D:
