It might be disrespectful, but all I can think of when I saw "Gerald Ford" was that episode of That 70's Show. The one where Eric went streaking through and then Red asked him "How the hell could you pardon Nixon?"
Too many people are dying now, it seems. Gerald Ford, James Brown, and then at work within two days we learned of two employees who just lost members of their family. Enough death already. It's depressing.
I'm not looking to discuss politics. All I'm saying is that it's been a little over five years now, and we still have no idea where Osama is. That's just not right...
And thanks for the thought John, but I was thinking a bit closer to home than "world wide." But I'd forgot to mention that one of my uncle's mother died too.
My dad talked with President Ford once. Well, sorta.
It was back in the 70s when my father was in high school. He and his friends had heard that the President was giving a speech in the next town over, so naturally they skipped school to go watch. When they arrived at their destination, they found that the place was packed and they couldn't get in. So now they had nothing to do. They had skipped school and were in the next town over. The kids walked a couple blocks over and sat down on the curb. Moments later, a limousine slowly approaches them. The window rolls down, and to their surprise, there's President Ford! He looks over, stares them right in the eyes, and says "How ya doin', boys?", and then pulls away.
I would have seriously not slept for days after that. The gray, stone-like eyes of President Ford staring directly into mine would haunt my dreams. I'd see him in mirrors. I'd see him on the backs of my eyelids. I'd see him on the ceiling above my bed at night. There would be no running. How can you run from someone who is everywhere? The world is on fire. Run.

(find the actual SNL skit, dear God please.)
James Brown, now there's a man that will be sorely missed. Our nation will never be quite as funky again.
If I were more of an asshole I'd go to his funeral and shout, "Get on up-a!"
Google Video! Of course!

Also, what you should be saying is "Don't forget Osama." Yano... Like Bush did.
