From the vaults

edited January 2007 in Comics
I was digging through my massive folder of all the art I have saved that My has drawn and I came across an old fancomic we did for 8-bit theater years ago. It was not accepted because it was three pages long, but I thought I'd share.

What kind of cool stuff do you guys have from a ways back?

Not accepted because it was three pages? Is it really that hard to just link the pages as "Fan Comic Part 1", "Fan Comic Part 2", and "Fan Comic Part 3"?

I, personally, don't really have any cool stuff, but I have some really bad stuff that was cool to look back on and say "what the hell?!" to. In fact, back in July I ran what I titled "What the Fuck Was I Smoking?" Week where I showed seven of these said comics. For the sake of contribution to the thread, I shall go dig these up immediately!
    1. Pants
Kicking off the first day of WTFWIS? Week is my first comic ever, simply entitled Pants. As you can see from the first and second panels, I quickly learned where the transparent background color button was. Didn't work on the background of the Knuckles sheet, though. Why did I ever use JPG, you ask? Well, because the background file was a JPG and I just slapped sprites and text on it and saved it under a new file name while completely disregarding the file type. Not that I had any better options at the time, as my PC was running Windows 98 whose version of Paint doesn't support PNG, but that was still a pretty stupid move. Why the hell anyone ever decided to archive JPG backgrounds for public use is beyond me anyway. And as for the "plot," I really had no idea, I was just bored and wanted to make a comic like Zepa. So this is what I came up with. Yep, my first comic ever: quite fitting for the first day of WTFWIS? Week.
    2. Boobies
This one is called Boobies. As you can see, this one is leaps and bounds better in terms of graphical quality over yesterday's comic. However, this comic obviously earns a spot due to the "joke." At the time this comic was made, Psy was running "Random Funny Comic" where he let viewers submit comics and he would post the ones he liked on his site. Everyone wanted to get their shit on Psy's site! So I made this to try and get on there. Bleh. Looking at it now, I want to beat myself with a blunt object for writing something so stupid. I didn't even get on there with this mess. I probably should have just deleted this comic altogether so I could deny it to anyone who might have seen it, but nope. I save the damn thing. So here it is for your mental displeasure.
    3. Lunar Relief Unit
Today I have a real shitfest for you! Lunar Relief Unit is now up. Now, not only is this a horrible joke (pissing on life boxes? good god that's dumb), but look what I did with my text! You can't read half of it on the panel itself, so rather than make text bubbles... I WRITE A FUCKING SCRIPT UNDERNEATH THE PANELS!! How stupid is that? Just... Ugh. If your eyes don't explode in a mess of blood and eyeball meats, come back tomorrow for entry number 4.
    4. Plane
Plane is up. I really have no clue what this is. Did I think this was funny?
    5. GameCube
Gamecube is up. This is one of many comics where I tormented Zepa in the comics because he kept bragging to me how awesome the Gamecube was in real life. Tails always seemed to serve the roll of someone bitching about it. As you can see, I finally learned GIF over JPG but I still didn't have text boxes.
    6. mjc's Grand Adventure #41
mjc's Grand Adventure #41 is up. This is on here because mjc's Grand Adventure was my old attempt at a plot driven comic, and even though I had been trying to make it serious, I threw in garbage like this to make it funny too. What kind of serious plot comic has an author character letting himself out of tough spots with author powers? Mine, that's what.
    7. Link65
Finishing up WTFWIS? Week is Link65. This comic portrays my brother as an idiot who swears to much, and myself as the kind of idiot that uses the word "shibby." It's also just plain ugly to boot, what with the crappy blood effects, the crappy zoomed in "face punch" scene, and the script form for text. Yep, at one point I stopped writing it on the panel itself and just put the script part in. I even have the last line of panel 2 going into the border. And I'm totally naked, too. Stop looking at my JPG dithered nakedness!

And there you go. I've considered doing a sequel to this little event using only comics from the rest of my ancient adventure series, but I'm pretty sure these are bad enough without showing how terrible I was at making a plot.

The vaults, eh? This is a good idea for a topic. The only old stuff I have is stuff from high school, which I posted in an older thread awhile back. But since I took those links down, I'll re-post some of them here:
    Rainbow Thing
    Rocky Lake Place
    Photo Trace-over
    Planner Redesign
    The Misadventures of Bob
    Scanner Collage
    Statue Placement

    LRRH Cover
    LRRH Page 1
    LRRH Page 2
    LRRH Page 3
    LRRH Page 4
    LRRH Page 5

    Typeface 1
    Typeface 2

Oh wait, here's an oldie that has nothing to do with school: MSPaint Spelling the Vacuum Fancomic

I'm thinking about remaking that Little Red Riding Hood story. It could use some improvement. ell, that's all I could dig up for now, but I've got some other school stuff that's still in the Illustrator format. I'll have to convert them and put'em up.
