I'm playing hooky from work!

edited January 2007 in General
Screw inspecting GM engine blocks for eight bucks an hour!

I'm going to go help my grandma pack crafts into boxes and then get back my old job delivering pizzas.

Huzzah!

What are you doing today?

That's amazing! I'm playing hooky from work too, except it's because I need to write a paper.

But, so far all I've accomplished is coming here and kicking Death's ass in Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.

Yes! I have been unproductive so far as well!

    *high-five*

I was supposed to do a java program last night, but all I accomplished was creating a tenative script for Back to the Future IV with Mario.

I'm technically supposed to be laid off! And you know what? I am hanging around work again today! It's crazy.
I could be at home further tweaking a little project I made for my flash class (If I had web space I'd show it off). Or attempting to mod Neverwinter Nights.

Do you get webhosting through your university? A lot of colleges do that but I've found a lot of people didn't know about it.

I'd tell people my college gave everyone 200 megs of free storage on their servers and people whom I figured would have known about it looked at me like they had never heard of it before.

I've been playing hookie from work for about 2 years now.

I'm pretty sure my school does not offer hosting. I'll probably have to get some soon though. My flash teacher made a comment along the lines that we would be expected to put our work online.

EDIT: That also means I'll need a website put together but that's supposed to be the midquarter project.

Classes start for me on Thursday, so today I'm going to spend doing laundry and going to get things before I take a five hour train ride to Connecticut tomorrow. So far, I've woken up at 2 and not done anything.

I woke up and went to school, came home, checked my e-mail, and came here. How exciting.

I could never sleep until 2. the latest I've managed is about 11.

Insomnia and a natural tendency to get 10 hours of sleep instead of 8 really help.

Not that I enjoy sleeping through half the day.

    Hooky day update!

I got my pizza delivery job back, yay! I also visited my grandma, went to the used bookstore, bought a bunch of poetry, including Falling Up by Shel Silverstein (an AWESOME find at the secondhand place).

My day off feels completely validated!

    Yay!

I went to school. I learn about protein synthesis in RNA, the Miller's Prologue, discussed reforms of the House of Lords (including the relevance of the Parliament act 1949 on the proceedings). I then came home, worked a bit more on a little project (you know the one), got my fifth feedback on ebay, had dinner, then watched The IT Crowd.

    Productiveness FTW!
(Oh, I had a subway for lunch)

Haha, The IT Crowd is an awesome show!

"That's how things work at this company: we don't get a lot of work done, and we have lots of affairs!"

I'm workin'. I'm at work now, eating lunch! Also, the Back to the Future Part IV script I wrote with Matt is the best script ever.

    Best IT Crowd quote ever:

"Computer's broken" "Is it a PC or Mac?" "...Yes"

In fact, to continue the non-productivity theme, have this: Every episode online (However, without the funky 1337 subtitles, it's not as cool :(

I thought his link was cute. The guy seemed to not understand the possibility of the convergent evolution of ideas, but it made me aware that he meant business.

It also reminded me about http://deathball.net/notpron .

I have been on page eighteen of that horribly amazing puzzle for a little over a month, and it still intrigues me.

    DOUBLE POST OF:

Mr. Kirchoff, (I SPELLED IT CORRECTLY!)

Does your pizza delivery job have a more attractive compensation/work input ratio than the GM job? (compensation equals money, education, and other, potentially beneficial nouns.) Because if you're taking off school this semester, especially since you want to do that for extra money to visit your pookykin, you should be getting the biggest bang for your buck.

please note that "buck" does not equal monetary input, but rather personal resource input. this includes time and effort, mostly.

Holy shit, I haven't played that game in forever. I <3 you now. *Hugs!*

ooh!!! Another NWN fan?! HELLS YEA! I play that game too friggin much. Amia's the most addictive server EV-AR.
  • edited January 2007
OK, I'll confess. I don't really play the game much and never online. I put the PRC pack in and played endlessly with character builds for awhile. I did have the distinction of coming up with quite possibly the single most munchkin character ever. Lately I've been trying to create a 4 foot iron golem familiar. To hell with D&D rules. I want my little robot minion.

You know, you can put Flashes up on DeviantArt if you really need space. That's what I did with my project.

I'm not actually working for GM, the pizza delivery job, at the same amount of time put into it, will give me more cash-monies,

Pizza sounds good right now. Bring me some pizza!
  • edited January 2007
Yes pizza! Also, yesterday I saw a thread that reminded me about Earthbound, so I downloaded it and today I started it again! It's fun! I also saw a movie called Babel that has an Oscar nomination but I didn't think that much of it. Maybe I was too busy falling asleep.

I worked late at the pizza place and am currently an hour late for my second-to-last day at the morning place.

I'm so bad, maybe I should leave now...

No, always fulfill your obligations and stay as long as you told them you would. It'll go a long way toward them giving you good recommendations.
