Rhombus, I had no idea the old Transformers cartoon got so super-crazy so quickly. I would also like to point out that one of the TMNT intros is in German and may be the funniest thing in the world.

I feel so left out by this discussion of American nostalgia.

All I have are programs such as ZAP!, Rosie and Jim (Looking back, this program is just the most homosexual thing I have ever seen), The Clangers, Mr Benn, Sooty (Best. show. ever.) et al.

The site seemed to have outside-of-US shows too, use the search bar and see if anything comes up. So far, outside of general-purpose sites like YouTube, Retro Junk seems to be one of the most extensive collections of its kind I've seen in some time.

I liked this site ten years ago - WHEN IT WAS CALLED X-Entertainment.
  • edited January 2007
X-Entertainment would seem to lack commercials from the 70s and 90s, as well as TV show intros and trailers from kid films. Basically, it loses. At life.

Ten years ago it had that stuff.

10 years ago most people still had dialup, so it was a bit silly posting so much media content, plus it had to be actual video files as opposed to hosting services, since youtube didn't exist.

Damn you for beating me at posting speed, Mario!

You can find pretty much every episode of Freakzoid, as well as tons of other shows, at video.aol.com, but I think it only works with IE.

Also, Nickelodeon is annoying and CHARGES MONEY for their shows. Freakazoid is free, however.

I have very high quality episodes of Freakazoid on CD around here somewhere, they're all encoded at a pretty high bitrate and look excellent.

I loved that show when I was a kid. Too bad they still have yet to release it on DVD...

Super Mario Bros. actor Danny Wells dead at 72
Canadian actor Danny Wells, best known for portraying Luigi in the 1980s' television program The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, has died at age 72.

According to his obituary in the Montreal Gazette, Wells (who's given name was Jack Westelman) was a natural comedian.

"He made them laugh and wowed them with his natural gifts," the obituary stated. "A very funny and talented man, he will be terribly missed by his family."

In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, which ran for 65 episodes, Wells co-starred with the late Lou Albano, who played Mario.

Wells also provided voiceover work for a number of animated television shows and video games, including Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats, Winx Club, and Batman: The Animated Series.

Wells will be buried in Los Angeles.

Rest in peace, Luigi. He and Mario/Capt. Lou Albano will surely be unclogging drains and eating pasta in that great big kitchen in the sky.

This news casts a bit of a shadow over Nintendo's "Year of Luigi" event.
