Comic #40: More Than Thirty-Nine (2/11/07)

edited February 2007 in Penny Racers Comics
A very fitting title...

I'm very proud of the box shading in that one flipped over panel. The number of papers accurately represents the number of questions I didn't answer! And yes, PMs can definitely be crumpled or some in envelopes.

This comic almost wound up being a whole lot longer and more interesting, but then I double-checked and realized I had read Behemoth's question(s) wrong. So I got out of drawing a whole lot of stuff. Also, I rephrased Kirby's question quite a bit. But whatever, it works.

Unfortunately, I couldn't talk to myself for 52 pages. Sorry.

    First!
Eevee is drinking that flaming wine stuff now? (SWEET)

EDIT: And I just understood the "52 pages" thing. mostly 'cause I just read the V73 forums.
I wonder how so many people joined...

I would be willing to help get it to 58 pages. Also, in the middle pannel of the fourth row, I keep reading "real fair" as "emo hair".

The counter on V-73's homepage is broken. It says there are only two visits, but I'm fairly certain more people have visited this wonderful site. Full of content.

In fact, looking at the code, I see that isn't a counter at all, but simply a static image! What's the deal-E-O?

I dunno, I musta done it wrong!

    Also, that's totally non-alcoholic stage burning-wine.

Apparently Geocities makes crappy counters or something. I put in a Freewebs counter, and it appears to be functioning just fine.

    Ooh! Shiny.

Pichu in panel ten is unbearably cute. I love it.

    ...
Reminds me of a Back to the Future outtake where Michael J. Fox (that's his name, right? I'm not good with actors) took a drink from the flask in the car-making-out scene thinking it was water, and it turned out to be real alcohol. It was funny.

It was, until he shouted out "Haha outtake reel!". It takes a bit of the magic out of outtakes when they exclaim that it's an outtake in the middle of the take.
  • edited February 2007
    I musta missed that part...
  • edited February 2007
It might have been one of the other outtakes, come to think of it. It was like the first one on the reel on the DVD.

Very nice, I had no idea these things were being filmed in some sort of studio.

Only the fourth-wall-breaky ones, like the email comics and the Season 2 opener.

    EDIT: You's an avatar thief!

    I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about.

Whose avatar did Amoeba Boy take?

That is one of the great mysteries, a mystery we may never be able to answer.

I had some free time tonight and didn't feel like starting anything new, so I continued the ongoing Old Comic Revamp process. I'm up to #6: Easter Special, Part 1.

    Old|New

It ain't pretty, but it's leaps and bounds over the original.

Times sure have changed. I doubt Eevee would've outburst'd like that nowadays.

Never got the joke to be honest...

Okay, here goes: Eevee lacks thumbs, and therefore has difficulty holding on to the egg. The egg falls into several cups of dye resulting in an ugly brownish color. Pichu's last line implies that this has already happened several times before.

    COMEDY GOLD!

Please tell me that's your weird idea of a joke.

The weasel's back and shinier than ever! Word on the street is he might star in my next Flash project, if I can't think of anyone better. We have to make a game! (that last one was only supposed to be about collision detection, so I kinda jumped ahead a little.)

I've figured out that my scanner likes pens and dislikes pencils. Here's some various Pokemon. They were outlined in pen and shaded in pencil, which looked kinda cool, but most of the shading went away with the scan.

PS. The comic ain't dead, it's just finals week and I've been quite superbusy. Don't worry, I've got the next few comics planned out ahead of time, so once they start, they should keep going at a steady rate.
