Comic #41: Laundry Day Part I (2/27/07)

comic041.png

Yeah! One whole year. Good stuff.

So this is the start of a fairly long story. I'm shooting for about ten comics, maybe more, maybe less. It actually has little to do with laundry. Or Pokemon for that matter, except Eevee and Pichu. Um... yeah. It may get weird.

Anyway, here's some fun "last 40 comics" statistics!

Pichu has appeared in 33 comics.
Eevee in 23.
Maurice in 17.
Skippy in 16.
(I had though Skippy appeared more often. I always felt like I was neglecting Maurice a little, but I guess not.)
There have been 3 comics which featured none of the main characters.

The only non-main characters that have been named so far are Sandshrew, Meowth, Buttercup aka Bloodspike, and Ms. Kahn.

The word "Pokemon" has been used twice in the comic. Both times were in comic #3, and spoken by a human. Don't be disillusioned by this, the Pokemon do refer to each other as Pokemon. It just hasn't come up in the comic yet.

Isn't that the pits. Doing laundry once every few years.

Just turn the clothes in side out, no one will notice.

By the way, whoever can tell me the significance of the white t-shirt Pichu's holding in panel four gets the mystery grand prize. Or, I dunno. Maybe a not-so-mysterious prize. I'll probably draw you a picture or something when I'm not busy.

    Perhaps a grand picture.

Where's the generic horizontaly striped T-shirt?

(Probably spelled almost every word wrong.)

    the, T
    WRONG!

And comic-related: So Pichu/Eevee lived together since... Grade 9. That makes sense.

That shirt logo looks a lot like the logo of Drax Enterprise from Moonraker...

    That's my new wallpaper.

It has not won a spot as a new wallpaper for me, but it's close.

    I'm scared....

It's not done yet. I wanna add some more details, and maybe do something other than plain red for the sky. Then I'll probably make it big enough to be an actual wallpaper.

Wow. I glanced at it and saw the steel pieces, and instantly thought " WOAHMG DoNkEy K0(\)g!". Very well done. I have to say, you've improved a lot since your first comics. Not that those were bad, though.

the t-shirt looks like it has pac-man on it... by the by, it's my wallpaper as of now too.

Hey, great comics lately. I'm sorry I missed out on the one that answered my question. But now I have to wonder, do pokemon shed? Does Pichu's fur get stuck to whatever he wears? Does he have to vacuum up Eevee fur all day? None of them should be allowed on the couch, they'll just get fur all over it.

What's the shirt that Stooge from StV wears?

I decided to try to draw something that wasn't cute for once, something I'm usually really bad at, and I managed to get down a pretty decent Bowser. His right arm is kinda... twisted weird, and I forgot that he has another set of spiked bands higher up on his arms. I didn't use any references until I got to the head, because it's hard to draw. I retraced and colored in drawing on the computer, in both normal style and in one of the Smash Bros alternate colors. I probably should've darkened the inside of his mouth more...

After I was done tracing over, I decided to find a use for that weird pose. Here's the best I could come up with:

I was gonna do a comic dealing with winter coats and stuff like that, but when I got the idea it was already December and too late for it. But if they grow it in, I guess they shed it off.

I think I like White Trash Bowser!

I have a caption for it!

"Koopa, where the fuck is the Canadian beer?! I can't drink this!".

None of those pictures should ever be seen seperate from each other.

Yo, somebody check something for me: Go onto the site and click the 'art' link, and tell me if you get an error. I think I might've broken something, and it may require fixing on... pretty much every single page on the site, which would be annoying.

It's working fine for me. The Art link takes me to http://www.prcomics.pennyracers.frih.net/art, from all the pages.

EDIT: Found an issue. Several of the works of art are broken links. They seem to be linking to the images on the root level, instead of in the "arts" subdirectory.

Good, because it just started screwing up for me for some reason, and I have to type ".html" after it to make it work.

I added some clouds to that Pichu picture, and toned down the gradients a little.

And morePokemon stuff: Here's an Eevee.

And here's a zoomed out version of that one, pretty much dominated by a red brick wall. Oops.

Wait, since when do you use Freewebs?
  • edited March 2007
Since before Frihost. I kept my account for image-posting purposes, because it's more reliable.

So, I figure I'll explain the joke with Pichu's t-shirt. See, it's got the logo of Oldsmobile, the car company. Pichu mentioned not having done the laundry in three years, and Oldsmobile stopped producing cars in 2004.

It was kinda out there, but it was the most t-shirt-worthy 2004 event I could find on Wikipedia. Besides, I liked Oldsmobile.

You know, you need to have a secret link on your site that's invisable, but you get clues to find it. And the secret page could have all of your secret references like that one on it. That'd be cool.
