edited July 18 in Games
Is anyone else as psyched as I am about the rapidly impending release of Pokémon Diamond/Pearl for the Nintendo DS? ...

While I'm not as excited, I'm still pretty stoked about it.

I realize I've been IMing this level excitement to a lot of people, so I figured it would make sense to consolidate it somewhere. Now you'll all just be getting hyperlinks to the blog entry whenever I need to spread the word. Much more convenient for me that way.

Did you preorder? Did you get the doodads?

    There are doodads?!?

I am super psyched, I haven't played any of the new Pokémon games extensively on the handhelds since the original Red version.

What was the first one where you could breed pokemon and collect like... nuts that could be turned into pokéballs? I think I played through that one a little bit, but I didn't get all that far.

I did beat Pokémon snap! It was like a rail shooter but lame! I'd throw apples at things and try to tick them off.

Anyhow, we should coordinate our game-aquiring, so we don't all get the same version, or something.

Hamelin, that'd be Crystal, Gold, and Silver where you use apricorns to make pokéballs. I'm definetly so excited, I might use "water gun" in my pants:p.

I can't wait to see what the day/night system has in store for us! I'm sooo gonna catch an Eevee and make it an Espeon, it'll feel so awesome to do that again with the day/night system! Although you could evolve one in Ruby/Saphire, it'll be much better knowing that it really is morning, without looking at the clock.

I'm planning on purchasing Diamond version, because the legendary for Pearl looks really ugly. It almost looks exactly like Groudon.

I also can't wait to start collecting the new baby pokémon. I'm eager as well to see the evolutions of previous pokémon.

I really just can't wait, and I'm glad they're finally releasing a game with new pokemon for he first time in TOO LONG a while! Riggen friggen Emereld, Firered,Leafgreen, and XD >.<

    But I just can't wait.

    EDIT: Mario, yeah. DOODADS:

    CUSTOM STYLUS!

    STYLISH!
  • edited March 2007
Oh boy, a stylus that won't fit in my DS' stylus receptacle. And is that picture suggesting that you have to preorder both games to get the mini-figurines of the starters? LAME.
  • edited March 2007
I'd be more excited if I had a DS. Regardless, it looks awesome and I'm sure my roommate will love it.

Okay, the doodads are lame, but I'm not a Pokemon fan.

Anyway, not only are they styli that don't fit in the slot, but they come with (not minifigures, but) a STYLUS HOLDER. HAHAHHAHAHA

    On the other hand, free.

Voice chat? On a DS? Is that new?

Also, as far as I've seen from looking over sprites and things like that, pre/post evolutions of the classic Pokemon all pretty much stink. The Electabuzz one is alright, and kinda scary lookin', but I was disappointed with the rest.

Buizels are where it's at, however.

As far as I know, games haven't made use of voicechat yet. Most likely it's because of Nintendo's pathological fear of online predators chatting with kids via DS, and Jack Thompson subsequently taking them to court for gajillions of dollars. I'm going to assume you can only voicechat with people on your friends list, and anyone you encounter randomly will be strictly trade and battle (although, what's to stop someone from giving a traded Pokémon a letter with personal contact info as a held item?).

As usual, the Pokémon based on any creature from a prior game in the series are fairly worthless. I like that egg Pokémon hatch at level 1 instead of 5, though.

I heard Metroid Prime: Hunters had that feature, but I haven't checked it out yet. I would be playing the game religiously right now if both my l and r buttons weren't broken. Srsly, I have it stored in an unmarked box for when I get a new DS.

Yes, Metroid Prime Hunters had it.

My mistake. But I've heard from reliable sources named takeru that the game isn't all that fun online.
  • edited March 2007
It might be fun, but I'm not good at it, therefore, it's not fun to me.

You should mark that box "Games to Trade In For A Copy of Elite Beat Agents."

So I stopped by GameStop on my way home from work, and they didn't have a single silly stylus for preorder! I preordered Diamond version anyway. I'm tired of running from store to store to try and find silly things like Wii Remotes, so I can only assume Pokémon DS will be pretty much impossible to obtain without a preorder.

Man, cancel that and order it online to get your doodad. Use the code SAVER for free shipping.
  • edited March 2007
They said they'd give me the doodad as soon as they had them in stock. And online? Man, I don't wanna wait an indeterminate amount of days for shipment. If I'm going to put good money down on a preorder, I want the game to be in my hands as soon as humanly possible.

I'm gonna say, for the record, that no stylus can ever compare to my Viewtiful Joe preorder bonus:

Wait, which online entity are you referring to with such a specific free shipping code?

    the INTERNET

    Elite Beat Agents is awesome.

I recently started playing Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja, this game is abysmally hard, it's a bloody roguelike, all the dungeons are random, as well as the item drops, and when you die it spits you back out into town sans all your items and gold you didn't put into storage because you were being cocky.

    Excellent, Tak.

And mario: Gamestop. It's either SAVER or FREESHIPALL (one used to be for EB, one for GS) You MAY have to go there through CheapAssGamer's affiliate link, I don't remember. This is all a lot more confusing since the EB/GS merger.

Waiting a few days is worth not having to go to Gamestop.

Haha, I forgot that most people have a problem with GameStop. As it turns out, there are exactly two game stores in Davis, a GameStop and an EB Games (so they're pretty much the same, and I keep mixing up the two). In fact, in my experience, GameStop and Game Crazy are the only real game store options throughout most of California, and I've usually preferred GameStop between them, but that's mostly because I had bad experiences with Game Crazy when it first opened (the guys that ran the place knew nothing about games that weren't made exclusively for the XBox). The handful of GameStops I've frequented were well-stocked with a variety of games and had knowledgeable employees excited about the trade. These are the qualities most important to me in game stores, and considering the local competition (non-game-centric places like Target and Best Buy, which don't generally even do pre-orders), I'll gladly take GameStop.

Nothing is worth waiting a few extra days. Ever. There's a certain prestige that comes with playing a game on release, like seeing a movie on opening night. I don't particularly like AMC, but I gladly fronted the cash to see Snakes on a Plane a day before everyone else. ^_^

Then again, Twilight Princess was never really a problem finding surprisingly!

EDIT: Woah..I missed an entire page!

I guess I'm used to waiting a year or more for games, so I don't mind waiting a few days. Prestige is for people with money.

Also, my apartment > all game stores.
