Why to love this, besides the Space Invaders:
  • Awesome striped short-row heel and toe
  • Knit on Size US 0 needles, as Mother Nature intended
  • The concept of immortalizing one's high score on a pair of socks makes me sort-of giddy. Though for that to be any sort of a status symbol for me, it would probably have to be a tetris score. And the other sock would somehow show the Kremlin launching into space.

In the history of my alternate universe, game endings would have been depicted first by cave paintings, and later by tapestries.

You know, the irony of this thread's responses within the brand new game and craft forum is that you guys could have all these things and even more esoteric knitted gaming tokens if you'd just learn how to knit.
  • edited March 2007
We would, but we aren't 65 year old women.

I don't think Stef is either. Nor are any of the other knitters on the board.

Are you sure? Maybe she's an undercover old person, trying to figure out our hip lifestyles, to provide the AARP with info on how to defeat us.

Matt, my superiors agreed that you don't need any additional defeating.

I'm weeping now. weeping. With joy.

On that note, I might be persuaded to give some kind of prize object for this. I'll just have to figure out what, and why and how.

I guess I'll take advantage of my base library, and even FURTHER increase the gap between the average education of a military member and the average education of a military non-member.

I'm crushing stereotypes as I set goals for myself! I think this day can only be described as productive.

Knitting? Who cares about that! I'm just happy with being esoteric on occasion. I might be more inclined to knit a web of lies and deceit.

This thread cares about knitting, X'o'Lore. You are in violation of this thread.

Doesn't learning to knit involve sacrificing your ability to produce testosterone? I heard that somewhere.
  • edited March 2007
No, foolish mortal! The vikings knitted! The vikings!
  • edited March 2007
And where are the vikings now?

That's right, dead. Historians say that it was due to a severe lack of testosterone.
  • edited March 2007
    RHOMBUS!

The vikings died of severe humility when the other nations made fun of them FOR knitting....thats history!

I heard Odin lost his eye in a knitting accident.

Over this past winter break, I knitted a bomb-ass coaster. Just you guys wait till I find a camera, then we'll see what's what!

I will knit when the Vikings win the Superbowl. This event would mean that hell has frozen over and I will need some warm socks to protect my feet from the cold ground.

If I tried to knit, it'd be scary.

Amoeba Boy, you knit a coaster? Rock! now the world is one drone closer to being glutted with homemade pokemon toys!... I mean, way to learn an awesome new skill! High five!

i knitted ("knat"? i think "knat" should be the past tense of knit...) once. it wasn't terrible, but i never got around to doing it again...
  • edited March 2007
I think I'm up for some knitting, as long as the object has at least some kind of reference to video games. It can be subtle and obscure, but it's gotta be there.

Or not, I'm cool with stripey things too.
