Who else is super psyched for this? I cannot wait, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodrigues, and two super sick films!

It shall certainly be interesting. I'm personally a big fan of Tarantino's over-the-top filming. And come on, how can a movie that has a girl with a gun for a leg be bad?

I was watching TV the other day and caught a glimpse of this out of the corner of my eye. "Did that lady have a gun-leg?" I remember saying.

    That's all.

It looks fairly insane. My only problem is that looking at the previews all I can gather about the plot is there's a stripper with a gun-leg, a car, and an asian guy.

Well from what I understand, the movie is a tribute and throwback to old B-movies. So you probably got all you were supposed to about the plot already.

I think I'm getting sufficiently psyched about it now.

It's a double feature! It's two movies in one!

I'm not too excited about Planet Terror, but Death Proof is going to kick ass. Kurt Russel, driving a car that kills people? YES PLZ.

Tarantino could slap his name on a bio-pic about Kitty Carsile and I would still be pumped and rearin' to go see it

From what I've seen, the awesomest parts loo to be either the gun legged stripper or the part where they're killing people with a helicopter.

Death Proof might suck. After all, Tarantino went insane years ago. But Planet Terror looks like good fun.

And X'o'Lore, I was aware that it's two mini-movies of sorts, but it's still one feature. They designed these stories to be presented back-to-back, and it has an overarching title of "Grindhouse", so I don't think there's anything wrong with calling it one movie.

    It's two half-movies, like the anti-Kill Bill!

I like Planet Terror more, mostly because it has zombie like creatures, and death by helicopter.

whenever my friends and I go see a movie and watch the grindhouse trailer, we always burst out laughing... it's ridiculous!!!

we've already decided we shall have to go watch it.

theres one thing that confused me about the gun-legged stripper is how she controls how the gun shoots...is it mind controlled or just something mechnical? im sure they will reveal that in the movie...but it never hurts to wonder before it comes out

Why does it matter? She's a stripper with a gun for a leg. This means any sexy pose she makes is also deadly. Also, it's AWESOME.

well then when you put it that way i guess it doesnt matter at all!

It probably won't be explained, if it's the self-respecting B-movie it appears to be. The guy pulls out a gun and attaches it to her leg stump (I didn't see anything resembling wiring or triggering mechanisms), and in the next shot she's jumping around shooting zombies. In a word, beautiful.

I just saw a trailer that only showed Death Proof. I can't find it on youtube, but the plot described was Kurt Russel starts messing with and attacking a group of women with a car, and then they decide to fight back with a car. I'm a little disappointed, I was expecting something better than Scream+The Fast and the Furious.

Planet Terror still looks like Grade A awesome though.

Uh, dude, Tarantino is making it, how can it be bad?

Oh wait, it could be Jackie Brown.
  • edited March 2007
Hey! I liked Jackie Brown. It was just different from his other movies.

Apparently Kurt Russell is a slasher using a car instead of a big knife, so I imagine there'll be plenty of shots of him killing gals with his car before he messes with the wrong carload of ladies. I've seen the same trailer, and Tracie Thoms looks pretty hardcore!

Hey, remember how we thought Grindhouse would be 2 half movies? Well, it's a 3 hour and 11 minute movie all together, so, that would make it 2 actual movies.

Which is both awesome and excessive.

I couldn't find Justin in the cast credits on IMDB, so the chances of it being awesome beyond belief are dangerously low.

He probably has a secret camoe like he does in all the other movies ever.

See? Like I said before, it's a double feature. It's like two movies in one!

(which is not to say they can't be referred to as one movie as mario saw fit to point out. I'm actually doing that hence "in one")

So I saw Grindhouse this morning.

Its probably the most revolting and disgusting peice of film I've ever seen.

    I love it.

I saw the trailer for this movie and nearly passed out from the awesomeness.

Then I saw 300 and was mightily happy with my day.
  • edited April 2007
Oh man, that was so great.

As predicted, I didn't like Planet Terror that much, but Death Proof and the fake movie trailers (especially Machete) were awesome. The ending of Death Proof was so great, too.

I really liked Don't! And Thanksgiving was cool too, except the very last scene may have left me scarred for life.

I saw it last night. I thought Planet Terror was brilliant, every possible Zombie film convention was there, and the reel gag was hilarious. The fake trailers were all awesome, the narration on DON'T had me in stitches and I can't wait to see the full version of Machete that will be released on DVD as well. Death Proof kinda drug on for a while in the beginning there, but the climactic car chase made it all worthwhile. I was on the edge of my seat the last 20 minutes, and I think I am in love with Zoë Bell.

As far as comparisons go, I enjoyed Planet Terror more, but I think Death Proof more closely resembles the kind of movies these guys were trying to emulate.

In short, SEE THIS FILM (THESE FILMS)

Werewolf Women of the SS by Rob Zombie was the best trailer. It had Nicholas Cage. End of story.
