Super Paper Mario is quite possibly my favorite game to come out for the Wii so far. Yes, I am indeed comparing it to Twilight Princess, and the Zelda game pales (pales, I say!!) in comparison...
I was so... happy... with this article until the puns.
I really think you need to give Paper Mario: the 2000 Year Door a shot, even though it is a shade less platform and a shade more RPG. The writing is just as clever. Besides, all Wii games could use a bit more blonde female archaeologist goombas.
When a pun gets into your head, the only way to get it out is to commit it to writing, let someone else read it, and get it stuck in their head instead. Sorry, but it was either you or me.
I started to delve into the Pit, but wanted to get back to the main quest. I'll jump back in once I've got a higher max HP. Loved the Game & Watch-style scenery.
Well yeah, the game seemed unrelated story-wise. It certainly picks up and plays like any standard new entry into the Mario series, requiring no prior knowledge of the previous stories. I figured the other ones with their (relatively) more intensive RPG elements meant they probably had (comparatively) deep stories, and potentially even tied into each other somehow. I was also perfectly fine with buying and playing Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, since I knew it to be unrelated.
Also, playing prior games isn't actually a big deal to me, I'm mostly messing around at this point.

Your getting Super Paper Mario months before me is an abomination.
Wii not playing imports without a modchip is an abomination.
I'll send you my copy if you want.
Not playing Thousand Year Door is one thing, but not playing Paper Mario is inexcusable! The peach stealth bits rocked!

So is TTYD, but not as awesome.
The whole castle actually, so many good jokes and references.
