Agentcel's Zelda Flash Movie Project Thread

Er-hem. Hiya. For a while now, I've been thinking about doing a flash movie.

The other day, when I heard the Zelda Medley that was going to be used in Brawl, I knew that I wanted to do a music video for it.

I tried to install FlashMX. I discovered that my free trial was up, and that I was screwed.

However, I was saved when I found the Adobe Flash Professional Trial.

After many hours of installing, I finally have it.

Here's the catch: I have exactly 30 days to create a 1:18 long movie.

I'll be giving you guys the day-by-day, right here. I'll post any questions I have here, and give you some previews.

Let the excitement begin!

DAY ONE: 720 HOURS REMAIN

Progress: Wrote the script, started working on the opening a bit.

    wait.... we talking one hour eighteen minutes, or one minute eighteen seconds, or one second and eighteen frames... one of those isn't going to get done, I can promise you. The other two, my eight ball says "outlook looks good".

    I think he means one minute eight-teen seconds. But the song is 1:28, or are you going to have ten second credits?

    Sounds good. Now start with the creating (with a Mac you could be done in about ten to twelve hours trust me I've done it before)

    I disagree. I've tried both Macs and PC's and I find that Macs are slower.

    The last 10 seconds is Zelda's Lullaby, which I'm not including, because right before it, there's a more dramatic end, and I also don't want the music to fade out like that.

    DAY 2: 696 HOURS REMAIN

    Progress:

    -Loaded software on other computer
    -Finished opening, and the first scene
    -Drew background without the color for scene 2

    First Question!

    How do you create a preloader, and/or a start button?

    I'd say I could give you some of the files for some of my work so you could look at them, but they may be a bit advanced for you judging by your question. I'll have to look back on my stuff from my flash class and see if I can find some stuff to help you since I am bad at explaining things. Or maybe someone else could help more quickly.

    EDIT: Can you make a button object? Once you've done that your question gets into a bit of scripting. I can try to make a little write up to answer your question sometime during the weekend, or you can try to catch me on aim if you want some help. Aim might be helpful as I don't know what sort of preloader you have in mind.

    Progress: Spent an hour learning how to make a loader bar and a start button thanks to X, and got the preloader done!

    DAYS 6-8: 554 HOURS REMAIN

    Oh dear, I've wast- er "not used" two days. Mostly because I'm busy getting ready for my sister's wedding, and I'm just lazing off.

    My friend was over while I was working on it, and he said it sucked so far... he's right -_-.

    So, I'm going to scrap the first scene, and the new one, and only use one that I've made so far. I think I have time! Wish me luck!

    I think that picture mario posted of him is at the worst angle you could possibly see the windmill guy. Ya know, since it looks like he's masturbating and all that.

    In fact, the image was obtained from a site devoted to unintentionally sexual imagery in video games. But I liked that it was animated.

    There's just no way I can do this..........

    I'm leaving for a week starting Sunday, and 3 weeks after, I'm gone.

    I'm not nearly ready to pull of this sort of thing. I'm getting a job next summer, so I guess I'll practice up on my flash skills and then buy the program.

    So the project is on hold.

    You can see the crappy video version done by other people on youtube though!

    Fine, but I'm warning you, it's crap. I accidentally deleted the save button also (don't worry X, I still remember how to do it). So attached is my disaster of a project.

    EDIT: By the way, I'm working on a much simpler movie as practice, so I might get it done. Nothing special.

    Looked good, although obviously incomplete. The music gets really freaky after you let it loop a few times.

    It's the channel that used to show Junkyard Wars. It might still have it, I haven't checked in a long time, but the show kinda sucked since they got rid of the original hosts.
