SCIENCE! Movie: "Primer"
((Sorry about the lack of movie threads. We have indeed been watching the films, and I'll try to get around to the other discussion-starters soon. Onward to Primer!))
I've gotta say, I benefitted heavily from a second viewing of this film. The first time I watched it, I had a great deal of difficulty understanding what was going on. The character's tendencies to overlap their lines, though effective in creating a sense of tension, forced me to strain to get a feel for just what the hell they were talking about (the pseudo-SCIENCE! didn't help). This time, I was able to focus on the lines and other subtleties, like various time travel hints.
That said, the movie was still totally awesome. It's refreshing to see a flick about time travel that isn't an outright comedy. I too would like to know what would happen if two cell phones with the same number were called.
Next week: The Iron Giant! I haven't seen this movie yet, but I loved Brad Bird's work on The Incredibles, so I'm sure I won't be disappointed.
